Bringing manufacturing back to the US, but no jobs for the working class

Have no answers, only 2 college economic classes,
YET from being old and getting through past harsh down turns.
See that Average Americans have lost quite a bit of money in 401k. IF the loss is not too much could regain in 6 months to two three years.
The market is the market. There's far more damage being done in the big picture.

Yeah, because the economy is improving right now..... er... no, it's not. And it's getting worse all the time.
There's quite a bit that they're not being told. As usual.

None of this had to happen. I don't understand this need they have to be isolated. They just assume that things are going to go back to normal after this.

And you'll notice that the subject of new American manufacturing jobs is no longer being bragged about. Now it's just about getting tariffs down. This has never been an emergency.

Yep, change the conversation so that they're always right. Ignore the things that blatantly show they've been conned, and focus on things he's telling them that make them seem like geniuses for following Trump.

The Pied Piper springs to mind.

I was going to start a thread asking them to walk us through how producing everything in America at much higher costs was going to help us in global trade. Or domestic prices.

But I have to admit, I don't want to see the responses.

Yeah, there doesn't seem much point in asking them anything. Either they ignore you or insult you. I ask questions and look at those I've put on block and it's depressing how ridiculous their responses are.

"
Howard Lutnick appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday and promised that “trillions” of dollars would flow into the US in the form of new investments in America’s manufacturing sector. Margaret Brennan, the show’s host, questioned whether those factories would be “automated”, as Lutnick had said previously.

Pointing out that the construction of new factories “takes years” and will do nothing to bring down costs of consumer goods for Americans in the short term, Brennan added: “You said that robots are going to fill those jobs. So those aren't union worker jobs.”

“It’s automated factories,” Lutnick conceded, while promising that American workers would build and “operate” the factories brought to US shores in the coming months and years."

Yep, they're planning on bringing manufacturing back to the US, but not for working class to have low paid jobs, they'll never compete with poorer countries even with the tariffs put in place. Nope, it's all going to be automated so the rich get RICHER and the poorer get morescrewedoverer.
Even if these factories are automated they still need a supply chain that will not be automated which means jobs for US citizens.

You equal misery idiot's will never be satisfied

Yeah, if you were British, you'd have been cheering on Brexit. And Brexit screwed the people of the UK over. Some still support it, some still think the good times are just around the corner and have said this for the past five years.

The problem here is that the math doesn't add up.

Say for example you bring manufacturing back to the US with tariffs. This means you're producing goods for Americans. But nobody else is going to buy your over expensive cheap rubbish. They're still going to be buying Chinese or Vietnamese or whoever is making the cheap rubbish.

So how many jobs are you actually creating? Sure, you have this factory, its automated, you've created some jobs.
But you've lost loads of jobs in the ports because things aren't being shipped to or from the US.

The US exports THREE TRILLION DOLLARS worth of stuff every year. Oil is the biggest export, who's going to buy US oil any more?

Food made up $165 billion of exports in 2021. Well, that all just got a huge tariff on it by other countries. $635 billion of exports in 2021 were industrial supplies and materials.

During Brexit they said "This is what we're going to spend our extra money on, the money we don't need to pay the EU". But the UK lost SO MUCH MONEY because it ended up with tariffs on goods to the EU that in one year the UK's lost far more than it had to pay the EU in like 50 years.

The market is the market. There's far more damage being done in the big picture.
And here in the good ol USA it's a very large, lucrative and profitable one for the world.

And previous administrations let us get hosed.

But Americans are more than willing to buy things produced with children and slave labor.....no remorse.
Yep, republicans have no problem with it.

Triggering in progress........ Marxist needs back.

If the "automated factories" don't matter, then why are our trading partners so upset at the idea of them being here?

So you support virtual slave labor from overseas brown people.

You don’t support minimum wage or human rights or environmental laws, so you support China which violates all those things.

This is your party platform now.

I remember libs used to cry about the kids working endless hours in sweatshops. Now, they love it.

After what Progs did for the last 4 years, and for decades, belief is not an option.
