Bringing manufacturing back to the US, but no jobs for the working class

Wait some time. When Brexit happened in the UK, the fanatics claimed it'd take time, things would get better. It hasn't. Even the pound against the Chinese RMB is down on what it was the day before the Brexit vote, and that's with China deliberately keeping its currency low.

The problem is, by the time the evidence is in that Trump was kicking you in the balls the whole time you were sucking his c*ck, he'll be out of office and you will be able to ignore the fact that he screwed you over.
If Progs ruled with some competence the last 4 years, Trump would not be President now. You have yourselves to blame. And frankly, you will have nothing in 2026 and 2028 at this point. You are supposed to be for the little guy. You have not for a while now. You move on from agenda to agenda leaving unfinished business things worse while spending much more.

Are robots going to build the plants?

You do realize that there are construction companies that specialize in building plants don't you?

They employ thousands upon thousands of workers.

Are you that fuckin' dumb?
That is only temporary work.

Are you that fuckin' dumb?

Howard Lutnick appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday and promised that “trillions” of dollars would flow into the US in the form of new investments in America’s manufacturing sector. Margaret Brennan, the show’s host, questioned whether those factories would be “automated”, as Lutnick had said previously.

Pointing out that the construction of new factories “takes years” and will do nothing to bring down costs of consumer goods for Americans in the short term, Brennan added: “You said that robots are going to fill those jobs. So those aren't union worker jobs.”

“It’s automated factories,” Lutnick conceded, while promising that American workers would build and “operate” the factories brought to US shores in the coming months and years."

Yep, they're planning on bringing manufacturing back to the US, but not for working class to have low paid jobs, they'll never compete with poorer countries even with the tariffs put in place. Nope, it's all going to be automated so the rich get RICHER and the poorer get morescrewedoverer.

My sister works in an automated factory and it still has a plethora of people working there to tend to the machines because as it turns out they are not team players with the other machines. If one thing messes up, the whole process messes up. She makes $78K a year which is good money in these parts--certainly better than the local average. Her job is to walk around and take readings from individual machines to feed into a tablet that sends it to the computers that control the end to end process.

BS.....A company may have several going at one time....They finish one and their core workers go to another site.

Local contractors are used for certain jobs and sure, once that contract is complete, they go to a new job site wherever their company gets another contract.

What, did you think an industrial paint crew is gonna stay at a plant forever?

I swear you are either the dumbest MFer to ever draw breath or you think that others don't know how things work.

So we should just rely on Chinese slave labor instead of doing it better here and employing our people. You’re an idiot.

Look at manufacturing jobs, robots won't eliminate manpower, it will augment.

The people who are saying we must suffer the pain, the stock market collapse, and the coming recession are the same folks who lost their god-damned minds when they were asked to put on a mask to keep from killing someone's grandmother.
The people who lost their minds were the ones who ruined the economy because they knew better.....over a virus with something like 96% survivability.

I call BS on a lights out factory.
Agreed....look at any auto assembly plant, sure robots are there but so are people doing much of the assembly.
