Brian Sandoval, Republican governor of Nevada, is being vetted for Supreme Court vacancy

2nd Amendment applies to individuals
As a former Federal Judge, I [Brian Sandoval] respect the rule of law. I strongly believe that the 2nd Amendment applies to individuals. I believe that all citizens have a right to firearms for sporting and self-defense purposes. I also support concealed carry laws. Brian Sandoval on Gun Control
Works for me. But it is also the main reason Obama likely will not appoint him, and democrats won't confirm him.

Silly.

Outside of the judicial activism that Scalia brought in 2008...there have been no major shifts in gun policy in this nation for decades.

While i believe that the self defense excuse is stupid...and does not in any way align with an originalist interpretation of the USC, that issue alone is not enough for me....or many libs...to rule this guy out.

You see.....time is on our side. In time...we will have some sensible firearms legislation and it will survive challenge. I'll still have my gun and so will you. But we'll both be held accountable for them and any damage that results from their use.

Sandoval's name coming up the day AFTER McConnell says no hearings? Sounds like a WH/Dem bs ploy.

If Obama nominates a conservative justice (not a moderate) with a proven track record, then the GOP controlled Senate should hold hearings. When i say conservative I mean a judicial conservative ala Scalia. Otherwise he can pound sand.

Elections have consequences.

You are a loon. I would assume a HUGE Trump supporter?

Your retarded buddy referred to the most radical left SCOTUS justice in history as a "moderate."

This shows not only what an out of touch retard he is, but also just how far left you scumbag democrats really are. Kagan is left of Joe Stalin.

I assume you back Sanders, but think he's way too moderate, right?

The Republicans can confirm him regardless of the democrats.

I doubt Obama will actually nominate him, I suspect this is meant to goad the Republicans into opposing him with no intention by Obama to actually nominate. Sandoval would literally counter his Kagan pick.

Unless you are a black president elected twice, amirite?

He lost the House and Senate, amirite?

I can see it now. A justice will die on the first day of a democratic presidents rule and Repubs will refuse to consider a replacement because in four years a repub might be elected.

You dorks are showing your asses.

Elections have consequences. Who said that? Was it this dork?

Yeah. Maybe Democrats can win back the Senate in the next election?

If they don't want to wait, all Obama needs to do is nominate a conservative justice and he'll be confirmed.

Otherwise maybe Obama can comfort himself with his his phone and pen?

I have zero confidence Obama's rigid ideology would ever allow him to nominate a true moderate, but if he did, it would be a brilliant political move.

A true moderate? That's an awesome phrase. I have a sneaky suspicion that you and I would not agree on what that means.

Both Kagan and Sotomayor are moderate liberal justices.

Obama's "rigid ideology" allowed him to nominate them.

What exactly has he been rigid about?
Pretty much everything. And yes, we would disagree on what is a moderate. A moderate to me is someone who would put aside race, gender, economic status, sexual preference, etc, and focus on whether a law is really constitutional. IOW, not an activist.

I believe that Sotomayor and Kagan do exactly that.

Scalia was an activist. He just acted in the opposite direction of a liberal judge.

If Obama nominates a conservative justice (not a moderate) with a proven track record, then the GOP controlled Senate should hold hearings. When i say conservative I mean a judicial conservative ala Scalia. Otherwise he can pound sand.

Elections have consequences.

And GOP will suffer in November. Yes, elections do have consequences. A Dem President and a Dem Senate and a liberal judge.

Maybe. Maybe not. Until then, Obama is not getting a justice approved unless he/she is a conservative.

Tissue?

The Dems can wait until they regain the WH and Senate. Cause Obstruction is Obstruction, and the voters will punish the GOP in November.

To Uncensored 2008: You need to be sentenced to Reality Court in an opportunity to divert you from full scale delusion. You don't get your own facts, your own definitions, your own terms. Neither of the Justices are marxists or socialists or neo-moon worshippers of Sapphos. You are talking idiotically. Your are clearly a little fascist of limited intellect and a danger not only to yourself but also our Republic.

Glad you are out of your fetal position following the ars whipping the GOP got in 2008 and 2012. Yup, you succumbed to the first Black President for two terms. FUNNY

Because of people like Trump and Scalia and foolish reactionary bots like Zander, yeah, 2016 is going to be a repeat of 2008 and 2012.

Who is that? The President of the United States, elected in both 2008 and 2012. That's who.

How has that election in 2014 worked out for you? Amazing results, right?
