A threat has to be More Than merely being presentShe was a threat and so were the mob of people standing behind her.
Just because you can legally shoot someone, doesn't make it right.
BullshitI can see that. I have also been brushed by cars, possibly knowingly, without shooting somebody, though quite often armed, locked and chambered. I just have much better self control.

It has to be imminent. Which was the case for Babbitt.A threat has to be More Than merely being present
How could they be a far bigger threat when they were on the other side of the door? People who can't reach you, can't harm you.The people breaking down the door were the far bigger threat, and he didn't shoot them
Please tell me where "Encouragement pour les autres" is a valid reason for using lethal force in the federal code.
I feel for her wife and her child. I don't think it was necessary for the agent to shoot her, but based on the current standards for lethal force, the agent seems to have been within their rights to do so. watching the video it seems to me as if the agents approaching the driver's side door were just looking to play Billy "We Be ICE" Badass and and the rest is history. She may not have even seen the one in front of the car if she was looking to her left, but the standard as I understand it is not based on her, but on the person who fired the shots. The whole political dynamic is so amped up emotionally who knows what may have been in her head at the time. Until people stop de facto demonizing LEO and LEO's stop acting like their poo doesn't stink, I don't expect anything to change though.I grant you, not allowing the first officer to open the door, choosing to escape instead, for what would have undoubtedly been a misdemeanor at that time, was a deadly foolish move. Every single instructional video available by attorneys, will tell you to cooperate, and fight it in court, later, not on the side of the street. It will end badly and sometimes, right there, on the side of the street. You cannot win a confrontation with government forces on the side of the street, right or wrong. Even if armed, and actually being confronted illegally, you really cannot even shoot in self-defense and expect a good outcome. She was like Babbitt in this respect. She really did not consider, they would actually shoot her. If surrounded by government cars, government officers with guns, it is in your short term long term best interests to go along with them. The really, actually might kill you, and it is worth the consideration. In this case, (unlike Babbitt) she will not be up for a Darwin Award for stopping her line down through the gene pool, as I understand, she already has a daughter. I have no idea how that works, as it is said, the woman leaning over her, in the car after her killing, was her wife.
How could they be a far bigger threat when they were on the other side of the door? People who can't reach you, can't harm you.
She was shot because she presented as an imminent threat. The first person through that door is the person most capable of causing you harm. That's how space/time works.
This is a very good and succinct take.I feel for her wife and her child. Getting hit by a car with a maniac driver refusing to obey orders is an “imminent” threat. It has to be imminent
Trying to break through a door is less of a threat than actually coming through the door. Coming through the door was a threatening move in and of itself. Nothing more is needed. They had no obligation to detain her just like they had no obligation to retreat. They were the ones trying to break it down, allowing many more to follow.
A guy the size of Byrd, with other officers available down the hall couldn't have detained her, or shot her when and if she actually made a threatening move towards her?
Why not? If any law enforcement officer is reasonably in fear of his life then use of deadly force is justified.nope
Did he get hit by the car or not? After reviewing the videos of the shooting numerous times, including several times in slow motion, I simply cannot see how the ICE agent was justified in shooting the woman in the car. He was no longer in front of the car when he opened fire, and she was already clearly turning to the right to avoid him. He was in no danger when he opened fire. This was a bad shoot.
Because none of them were reasonably in fear for their lives. Why not? If any law enforcement officer is reasonably in fear of his life then use of deadly force is justified.

A fool and his money will soon be parted. And, Renee's wife Mattie Weiss's GoFundMe page just topped over half a million dollars, less than 24 hours after the shooting occurred.
We have learned how to devalue every ******* thing in this world simply by capitalizing on misery and fighting over politics. I have long said that they (illegal foreign nationals) will have us killing each other for the sake of humanity, and we'll be too stupid to see our own demise coming.
Imminent means an activity is already underway where it’s proven that the next step in the progression will be lethalIt has to be imminent. Which was the case for Babbitt.
NO.Did he get hit by the car or not?
They weren't led in. They smashed the windows to get in. At that point, it would have been justifiable to start shooting them.
