FBI had been notified back in Sept of the YouTube video, but said they couldn't do anything about it because it didn't give enough personal information for them to find him..........but whatever happened to searching for an IP address to find someone? It should have given them enough info to narrow their search

It should have given them enough info to narrow their search

An IP address does not tell you who the person is...and you need a legal search warrant in order for the internet providers to give you that personal information.....you have to have probable cause to get one and the standards are high.... is what I understand of it...

Looks like the local yokel police might have missed a chance to do something 39 times, they are there on the scene, they know where the guy lives, they know who he is, they have neighbors complaining, they know what high school he attended, yet they too felt their hands were tied?

Maybe you need to give local police and the FBI more leeway with search warrants....? No one wants to do that...and maybe justly so...but hard to complain if this really was a legal issue that nothing more could be done?
