Blackouts threaten Germany as the proliferation of heat pumps and e-vehicles drives power demand to new heights.

Here, there, and everywhere.
Here’s a disturbing report out of Starnberg, a wealthy suburban town south of Munich, where years of sustainability woo coupled with recently rising gas costs have induced an unfathomable demand for heat pumps. As the energy crisis looms and people fight to avoid astronomical heating bills, these are subject to almost year-long back-orders.

There’s only one problem:

Despite all the euphoria … [h]eat pumps need electricity, and at the same time more and more e-vehicles are being connected to the grid. “In the Fall, all our lights are going to go out,” says [heating company chief Bernd] Krüger. And yet the absurdly long backorders could potentially forestall a blackout. At least that’s what [another heating company executive named] Achim Richter … is hoping for.
As prices for oil and gas have risen enormously, consumers are looking for alternatives. Those who can afford it, have heat pumps installed. Those who can’t are going to the hardware store and buying electric heaters, Krüger says … And all of that requires electricity, but the grid isn’t designed for it … “We're not going to be able to do that. The power grid is going to collapse. The blackout will come for sure.”
It’s a bleak picture that the CEO of the Starnberg-based company describes … In Gauting, there is a street where three charging terminals for e-vehicles have just been installed … “So a heat pump is already too much for the grid there. You couldn’t operate it at all.”
We’re looking at nothing less than the total failure of green energy policies. The Greens have spent years promoting electricity as the only environmentally responsible sustainable solution, shutting down our nuclear power plants, pouring untold billions into wind and solar which do not work, and burning cheap Russian gas as a fake “transitional” measure to hold the whole scam together. It’s no accident that former chancellor Angela Merkel, responsible for our disastrous decision to phase out nuclear power, fought so hard for Nord Stream 2. But now the Russian gas is gone, and random plumbers in Starnberg are praying that new heat pumps are delayed long enough to spare their fragile electrical grid new shocks ahead of winter.

Trump warned Germany that they would be facing troubles over dependence on Russian energy. The Germans laughed at him.

Thank goodness they stopped using coal and nuclear.

Reliable energy is awful!

There are still four or five remaining concentration camps in Germany, I suppose they could fire those back up to generate some heat.

I mean, after retro-fitting them with boilers and cutting some wood. :smoke:

Germans are cutting down trees for firewood.

Germans are cutting down trees for firewood.

We’ll all be reduced to scavenging in the forests.

It's gonna be a Fuckfest :abgg2q.jpg:
This winter, the green energy revolution gets a gigantic kick to the nutsack. The AGW goofballs will be standing around with their thumbs up their pooper :coffee:

the global warmers are going to freeze thousands in europe this winter. idiots.

As you can see, the green renewable clean energy nuts are avoiding this thread so that it disappears.

For years, on this board, in these threads, the renewable clean grean energy nuts used Germany as an example of how great solar and wind are.

Now, all we here is crickets, crick crick crick

Before covid, before the Ukraine, Germany was suffering the highest cost of electricity in Europe, in the World. Germany was building a pipeline to Russia, to make up for the wind and solar shortfall. Now after war in the Ukraine, Russia shutting down the pipeline, a summer of almost no wind, shutting down their nuclear power plants, Germany's industry is collapsing!

This thread is 20 days old, not one of the users here that pontificate regularly that wind and solar is great, is here to provide any argument as to why it is not a solar and wind failure in germany.

Solar and Wind are inefficient, extremely expensive forms of energy. They have failed the world, yet the world thinks they can print 10's of trillions of dollars, a hundred trillion dollars, to fix the failure.

At least when they freeze to death, the green idiots will be breathing clean air.

technically, they wont be breathing clean air, fossil fuels are used to manufacture billions of tons of natural resources into wind turbines and solar panels.

It is now, a completely new, Heavy Industry being run on Coal, Oil, and Natural gas, operating every day of the year, 24 hours a day, and that is not enough to build all the wind turbines and solar panels they want.

The "green clean renewable", Heavy Industry must grow and is growing exponentially. Almost nobody is paying attention to this industry, this new global economy, all they focus attention on is a shiny solar panel on a roof proclaiming, "this does not hurt a thing".

A backorder on heat pumps in the face of the cutoff of Russian gas supplies is the "total failure of green energy policies". You're not only blatantly biased but stupid.

Once it becomes ad homs, there’s no discussion.
Barbs are allowed in posts with Points made. (it's actually in the rules)
IF you want to criticize "ad hom," there are plenty of little RW Hacks here like jc456 and his 160 No Content, one-line/quip posts a day or Skookerasbil with his Kindergarten fare.
Surely you've seen them and many others before Crick's content-full posts.
What a bigoted political charge made to a person who makes many meaty posts compared to NONE for the two above... and so many more.

In fact, this whole board is an 80% RW Troll dumping ground. (because we have RW mods and a for profit website)

Not impressed.

I would say stupid would be not to acknowledge that before Russia shut off gas supplies Germany shutdown 14 of 17 nuclear reactors, part of the going green energy policy. That massive shortage of electricity forced the reliance on Russian gas.

Wind and Solar are to intermittent to rely on, and it winter very very inefficient.

The price of electricity since 2000, has doubled, and that is before the Ukraine war and Russia turning of the gas.

Heat pumps, you could be right, that does not prove the total failure of green energy policies.

Electricity prices doubled since the green energy policies were instituted.
German people are migrating out of Germany, in record numbers
German industry is shutting down
German industry is moving to other countries

Yep, all the proof shows that there is a failure, where has the most money gone? Green Energy Policies
