There are well-credentialed Constitutional experts who disagree. The opinions of people who post here are less than worthless.
The important thing is this: Birthright citizenship is TERRIBLE PUBLIC POLICY, regardless of what one jurist or another has opined over the last 150 years. Only an anti-American scoundrel could support such a policy, which is why Democrats are all-in for it.
The Court will not provide a definitive answer for a number of reasons. They will likely dump it on Congress. They would not "legislate from the bench" or put the millions of American citizens who got their citizenship this way in limbo.
But there is no question about my first point. The way it is currently applied, it is awful policy.
