LOL yes that is exactly it. The 1619 project will rewrite all the history books used in classrooms to prove that our fledgling country failed to live up to ideals set hundreds of years into the future. Forget historical context, forget that nearly all major nations in the 1600 and 1700s were involved in the slave trade. None of that matters, we must engage in this self flagellation to beat down America and strengthen the New World Order.
Here's the problem. It failed to live up to the ideals set up at the time.
"All Men Are Created Equal (except for blacks, native Americans, women, etc.)
"Liberty and Justice for All (except for blacks, minorities, the poor, etc.)
So let's get down to the brass tacks, shall we?
America's revolution was not a popular revolution, it was a revolution of a mercantile, bourgeoise class against a far away government. They weren't fighting for any big ideals of "Democracy", at that point, the UK was a parliamentary democracy and George III was largely a figurehead who held very little real power.
Now, one an argue that we DID improve and we did evolve in areas of civil rights and equality over time. That's actually a much better story. We've improved ourselves, and we can continue to improve.
Or we can do what fading empires do, revel in the tales of past glories, romanticize the past, which was actually a pretty miserable time to live in.
