Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto tweeted in advance of the scheduled 1:30 p.m. event that Biden would be appearing at the Mill 19 building.

About two dozen supporters showed up beforehand, gathering at Lytle and Eliza streets. By the time Biden wrapped up his speech, more than 100 supporters of the vice president as well as a small number of Trump supporters had come to the area.

The campaign said it opted against holding a traditional campaign event with large crowds flocking to a venue and the area around it to adhere to guidelines aimed at limiting the spread of covid-19.
