Biden Admin clears Chinese company to own 370 acres of land 12 miles from Grand Forks AFB

Arizona Republicans sold Arizona water and land to the Saudis, so how about shutting the fuck up?

Get your facts straight.

There is no law against foreigners buying land in the US. Period.

As for Arizona, no party has a thing to do with that. And they are not "selling water", it is a Saudi company that runs dairies and farms. They then send the produce grown to Saudi Arabia. That can be done freely and legally in any of the 50 states. If Argentina wants to buy 10,000 acres of land in Texas or California and do the same thing, they are free to do so. No more than it takes any party to get involved if South Korea wants to build a car plant and then send the cars off to other countries.

Controversial Chinese Corn Mill in ND

OMAHA (DTN) -- Residents of Grand Forks, North Dakota, are wondering about the next steps for a Chinese company's proposed corn mill after a federal committee concluded last week that it doesn't have jurisdiction over the foreign land purchase despite the proximity to an Air Force base.

The federal committee for foreign investment is made up of Bush era appointees. This is really ignorant.

It has been amazing to watch America dismantled as Americans stood by and did absolutely nothing. We are a proud, brave people. (not)

This has been going on for over 30 years.

Hell, about 25 years ago there was a huge controversy when the Long Beach Naval Shipyard was closed. COSCO stepped up and tried to buy the entire base, and what followed was years of debate and hearing as a great many people were troubled that China was trying to buy a major US navy base. That finally fell through and the location is now owned by a company from South Korea. But we dismantled a hell of a lot of our military capability in the 1990s.

Sorry, but can we get some kind of reference for that?

Because the membership is actually not permanent. Nobody is "appointed" to that as a permanent position, like say a judge is or an Undersecretary. The members are clearly stated:

The members of CFIUS include the heads of the following departments and offices:
  • Department of the Treasury (chair)
  • Department of Justice
  • Department of Homeland Security
  • Department of Commerce
  • Department of Defense
  • Department of State
  • Department of Energy
  • Office of the U.S. Trade Representative
  • Office of Science & Technology Policy
The following White House offices also observe and, as appropriate, participate in CFIUS’s activities:
  • Office of Management & Budget
  • Council of Economic Advisors
  • National Security Council
  • National Economic Council
  • Homeland Security Council

In other words, they are representatives of the current Cabinet office holders if not the Cabinet Officer themselves. And I can't see the current Secretary of Defense assigning a "Bush Appointee" to monitoring it for them, unless that appointee is known to be largely bi-partisan in how they perform their duties.

And yes, a lot of those in government service are and have been amazingly bi-partisan in their duties. One of them that is well known and comes to mind right away is Jim Webb. A lifelong Democrat, President Reagan had no problem or resistance when he was named first an Assistant Secretary of Defense, then later as Secretary of the Navy. Because even though he was a Democrat, it was also well known that his first dedication was to the military (specifically the Navy), and not in playing party based political games.

In fact, he even had several acrimonious exchanges with Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill as the Speaker opposed the "600 ship Navy" proposal that Mr. Webb was an advocate for. Not exactly something a "Hard Core Democrat" would have done.

Just another way to slip poisons into the food chain. And yes, they will front for spies like all the other Chinese fronts here, no problem, since they can buy Republicans as cheaply as they can buy doper Democrats.

Reagan started it by closing US bases while expanding oversea bases.
