Just because a lot of the countries those immigrants are coming from also have high rates of violent crime doesn't necessarily follow that the immigrants coming here are part of the demographic in those countries more likely to be committing those crimes. In fact if you thought about it, and you were of at least average intelligence, it might occur to you that the people coming here are more likely to be people trying to escape that violence, not spread it to a country that is a lot more affective at responding to it.

I would hope that would be the case, but we know we have tens of thousands of Hispanic gang members, and I certainly would not be surprised if many of them came here with an already violent past.

Incorrect. As a percentage of population they commit far more than their percentage of population. As far as gross numbers they commit less but there are way less gross numbers of them to begin with.
