1) did you watch the show?
2) Can you actually cite anything in the show that was factuallly incorrect.
Now, putting my bias out there as I always have, there was not one thing in this special that was actually news to me. I've heard all of it before, some from Ex-Mormons.
Oh, John Sweeney, the BBC's cult hunter. Sweeney has a history of hatchet jobs on every subject he "investigates". The entire documentary was negative from the start to finish, typical BBS BS.
Calls it "the fastest growing religion". That is a fraud from the start. What was it, 5 minutes into the "documentary" and they are showing hard core fundamentalist groups. Hardly Romney and the typical Mormon. Supposed to be about Romney's faith?
When do we meet the polygamists Joe?
Only a complete dumb ass buys into that documentary.
Hokey Pokey drama presented as fact.
Hey Joe, when did the documentary EVER SAY that Mormonism STOPPED POLYGAMY?
John Sweeney, the dude who shows up at Hollywood events and yells at John Travolta "Are you a member of a sinister brainwashing cult?"
The part where they said former CIA agents are on the payroll to follow everyone and anyone is very believable, huh Joe?
To sum up this "documentary" all it amounts to is that Sweeney says that Mormonism's crime, IN THE PAST, has been fundamentalism and polygamy.
As often is the case and suckers buy it hook, line sinker, facts are often deployed as caricature. MLK Jr.s love of the ladies, a factual history, says nothing useful of his work in an important part of our history, the civil rights movement. The dropping of the atom bombs on Japan is not the entire story of our war with Japan. But Sweeney operates in a different way.
All he did was dig up every possible negative misadventure OF THE PAST with the Mormons AND NEVER presented anything concerning the current contemporary religion of Mormonism.
The vast and overwhelming majority of Mormons can not relate and do not see themselves as anything at all similar to anyone depicted in Sweeney's "documentary".
Sad fact that the American public, and most importantly the British public, could have used a sensible education about the Mormon faith.
The Brits deserve much better, they FUND the biased BBC.
