The whole of US politics is based on money, and it doesn't matter where the money comes from, as long as you manipulate people.

Change the electoral system to Proportional Representation, then you won't have these close races that cost a FORTUNE. Instead parties will have to appeal TO THE WHOLE COUNTRY, and spending money will be less of an issue in politics.

Having policies will be more important.
