I don't see how the Obama family goes on any more vacations than the average presidential family. I have no doubt the Romney family would have had no shortage of vacations either. But either way, as stated by other people who have replied to this post, the President does not just write up the pay for military soldiers on a whim; it's not his choice.

Actually, I think this is a good thing if you ask me.

I knew quite a few people (mostly flight crews) who would arrange to have a stop-over in Iraq or Afghanistan simply to get the increased HD pay for a month, when they only spent a day in country. By 2009-2010 it had become a joke, and I even knew of cases where "routine" flights were rerouted from Kuwait to UAE over to Afghanistan (and taking our personnel along with them) so that the flight crew got their monthly bump.

I know one gal that got stuck in Afghanistan for a week because this happened to her, and the crew took off again without waiting for her to arrive from the transient barracks. It took us over a week to get her back from there.

The problem is pretty common among those that have no respect for others. They are full of rage, and the only way they can vent is to resort to childish name calling and attacks instead of dealing with the issue itself.

Myself, I never refer to my Commander-in-Chief in disrespectful terms, no matter what I think of them or their policies. Of course, I am also consider myself a Professional, and feel disdain to anybody who does so, regardless of who that President actually is.

And the fact that these people are simply trying to use a "support the troops" by using it as a cover for their attacks makes me tune them out 90% of the time.

This troop finds them to almost universally be assclowns.

If you were actually a person who understood how the military worked, as well as understood who ran the pay, you'd know that it's Congress who dictates what the rates are, as well as how much is paid.

Yes...................there were times that I'd heard of people stopping in a war zone for a day to get hostile fire pay for the whole month, because that's what the manual said to do. However, do I agree that someone who does a re-fuel for a day should be entitled to the same amount as someone who has actually spent the whole month in the combat zone? No. I don't. It SHOULD be pro-rated like per diem is, and that's coming from someone who was a Personnelman and knows about the way the rules work for that.

Actually, that picture was taken in Yuma, that was actually not all that bad when you are stationed in El Paso.

But the ME was much-much worse. Our running joke was that it was "135", because that was as high as our thermometer went. And for 9 months it was pretty much always maxed out.
