AZ Gov Jan Brewer says her Father died fighting Nazis. Problem? He Didn't

When I was poor, Bird's Nests were the shizzle, also.

Put 1/2 " of butter in a fry pan, put a half-dollar sized hole in a slice of bread....cook an egg in the hole in the bread.....(also cook the cut-out middle...soaks the butter so yummy).....and Ba'am. You are Emeril.

Kick it up a notch: try fitting in a quicky while the egg cooks, but do NOT nut in the kitchen. ewwey.

Brewer did not say that he FAUGHT the nazis - she said he 'faught' them by working in a munitions factory! In a way, THAT IS fighting the nazis just as those who worked building planes to fight them, etc.! Nobody is better at embellishment than is 'the great one'!! Bar none.

Citizens of that great generation are well aware that just about every American at that time was fighting the Nazi's in some way shape or form.

Sadly, the selfish generations that followed can not comprehend such "patriotism". Only those raping, killing army people of today fight wars. And they should be dammed to hell for doing it.

And it is those selfish generations who can not comprehend true patriotism that decided to use her fathers death as a political tool against a political party..

Pathetic.

Yep.

It's interesting how dismissive some people are to those who suffered long term consequences of working for the war effort in WWII. Their service is unimportant, apparently.
No one said their service was "unimportant" - except you.

It's one thing to claim employment in the war effort at a factory and praise the accomplishments of that work.

It's another to say because a person worked at a factory that manufactured war materials they "died fighting the Nazi regime in Germany."

That is trying to claim some sort of War Hero status - I don't care what you say, and it diminishes every war Hero who ever did die fighting the Nazi's in Germany.

Good Op Ed from E.J. Montini:
What if Napolitano said what Brewer said?

The Arizona Guardian article that indicated Gov. Jan Brewer embellished her father’s World War II career is being dismissed by Brewer defenders claiming that it is part of a smear campaign against the governor.

The facts are these:

Brewer told an Arizona Republic reporter that her father “died fighting the Nazi regime in Germany.”

The Guardian reported that her father worked in a munitions plant during the war and died 11 years later, according to Brewer, from some type of chemical exposure that ruined his lungs.

Perhaps in your mind there is no difference between these two versions of the story.

But I’m wondering if you would feel the same if the embellishments had been made by former Gov. Janet Napolitano?

Because these days we seem to make excuses for those with whom we agree and condemn those with whom we disagree no matter WHAT the facts.

i like the "in Germany" part. to clarify, probably, so that no one could think he was fighting the Nazi regime in Cameroon.

I'm still impressed that the libturds are pounding on the so called lie Gov. Brewer told and dismissive of the big fat assed lie they told when they said she was "hitler's daughter".. hypocrites..

A: Didn't whine.
B: Cartoon Avatar? It's a drawing, not a cartoon. A cartoon is animated. This is a still photo.
C: Grow up. Eat shit. Poop Cheerios.

Ah semantics. That's all you got. Ok I'll play, you have a comic book character as your avatar, you say things like eat shit, poop cheerios and you cry about having to hide provocative avatars ( so mommy won't see ). Yep sounds real grown up to me. :cuckoo:
I was being ironic on-purpose you dumb ******* retard.

Jesus Christ, do you ever get tired of being a douche bag? Why don't you try being cordial with other posters for five ******* seconds. Holy shit.

Damn, your the biggest cry baby I've seen on USMB. If you can't run with the big dogs, then stay your puppy ass on the porch. FYI there is an ignore feature, try using it and quit your whining!

You just called everyone that's ever served in the military since WW2 Pussies.

Shame on you!

You are insane.

I most certainly did not and shame on you for reading it that way.

I sarcastically explained how the NON MILITARY of today only see the military as the ones fighting the wars.

All Americans are fighiting the wars. All Americans must sacrifice and most Americans of this generation see it as "not their problem".

But I know as fact that the great generation saw fighting the war as a joint effort by all. Not just those in combat.

Well, next time choice your words a little better, because that's how it came out. I was surprised someone like you would even say that quite frankly.

I think 99% of Americans stand behind our troops. From where I stand, that's what I see.

Don't make generalizations about people's patriotism.

Fair enough criticism. It is not what I mean, but how others take it. I take full responsibility for not articulating my point.

The crux of my point is that whereas all Americans of the 40's considered themselves as participants in the war effort, nowadays, all may support the troops, byut not nearly as many consider the war as anything more than something the military is engaged in.

War is a completely different mindset now in America than it was when my dad, uncles etc were overseas fighting the war while my mom, aunts etc were fighting the war here at home.

I understand your point, but that's because our boys over "there" are fighting for something different, that some may or may not agree with. Yet, they still support OUR TROOPS, and that means a LOT to those over there.

The mindset isn't the same as it was during WW2, because it's not a Global War like it was back then.

I sure don't want to see a WW3, just so our country pulls together like they did during WW2, do you?

Now, go thank a Vet and we'll call it a day! ;)

Per my mom and my dad:

They knew many that died due to the war effort without leaving the shores of America.
Back then, if one died loading amunition on a C-47 , they were considered victims of the war.
It was a mindset very few of later generations can comprehend.

I KNOW!!!! Why aren't we talking about important stuff like teleprompters, imported mustard, and Arlington Cemetary on Memorial Day! Grrrrrrrr!

Lets see, some hateful liberals call her "Hitler's daughter", and she points out that her father died as a result of working in a munitions factory during the war effort against Nazi Germany. Sure, she could of worded it better, but she was responding to a hateful attack by liberals.

Don't see any libs here condemning the people who were calling her "Hitler's daughter".

A lot of phoney outrage on display.

Because that was the last Declared War...Total War. If we were to ever declare war, we would have the same again.....but I suspect that the majority in this country would NOT want to make the sacrifices for Afghanistan or Iraq.

I understand and likely agree with you.

However, my point was that what she said was based on how SHE saw it as ALL AMERICANS saw it back in the 40's....and those that comprehended what she said in another way should first do their research before saying that she said it the way she did to imply that her dad was a combat casualty. If her critics read up opn how she and all Americans saw her dad's death at the time (and even today for those that unerstand) there would be no controversy at all.

Why is it that Obama can say "i did not know the man" with his explanation being that he meant that "he knew him well, but he was not friends with him" and that is fine with the media and the people but when a republican says something that was valid and said all the time when she was younger, her explanation is crap and just a cover up.

Pretty fucked up if you ask me.
