Artic Char is more delicate in flavor than Salmon. Doesn't smell up the kitchen either.
Maybe just a little sweeter than Salmon also.
Tough call...

Salmon smokes better, though.

Haven't had smoked Char.
Neither have I. I don't know anyone who does smoke char. But you're right, they are less fatty and lots more tasty than salmon, IMHO.

Just reading that Char does not contain as much organic contaminants as farmed Salmon. Due to it's popularity Salmon is over farmed and raised improperly in polluted waters.
 
On a side note a great seasoning for fish is Fishermans Wharf seasoning. Good stuff.
