Arizona state Sen. Wendy Rogers (R-AZ) retweeted white nationalist Scott Greer on Monday calling for celebrating Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.

Greers’ call to celebrate Confederate generals came on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, in an apparent message to his supporters that he believes in the tenants of the Confederacy over those the slain civil rights leader.

Rogers retweeted the controversial message just days after she spoke at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Florence, Arizona.

“Arizona is a red state,” Rogers declared during the rally. “We are not turning purple.”

The Arizona lawmaker, who has embraced the QAnon conspiracy theory and pushed allegations that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, also led the crowd in chanting “decertify” during the rally.

Rogers, a freshman legislator who is running for re-election, announced last week that she raised an eye-popping $2.5 million in 2021.

No stranger to controversy the former Air Force pilot and die-hard Trump supporter has previously shared posts from notorious white nationalist and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes.

It is amazing how folks wonder why black folks don't support the Grand Ole Party.

I just don't understand why the Negroes won't vote Republican...

Both Parties have enormous flaws. Racism is more of a fault of Republicans. Totalitarianism is more of a fault of Democrats.

Figures you don't get the irony of this.

She is a complete loon. Yet people voted for her. Amazing.

While running for Congress in 2018, Rogers ran attack ads claiming that one of her opponents in the Republican primary election, former state Senator Steve Smith, was a "slimy character whose modeling agency specializes in underage girls and advertises on websites linked to sex trafficking."[36][37] The modeling agency and its owner sued Rogers for defamation in October 2018; the protracted litigation eventually reached the Arizona Supreme Court, which decided to consider whether the First Amendment shields a political candidate from liability for defaming a third party while attacking an opposing candidate.[36][38] Oral arguments in the state Supreme Court were held in September 2021

A lot of States celebrated Lee-Jackson Day which (I believe) fell on the same day as MLK Day when it was enacted. In 1984 the Virginia legislature combined all the above into Lee-Jackson-King Day but it has since been split into to separate observances.
Not "taking sides" here, simply pointing out the history of the holiday, observe which ever one you choose, I could care less.

Has anyone reading this ever heard the statement, "It's not all about YOU!"?

While the institution of slavery was the core of the rebellion, it was not the only reason why the South seceded.

The Civil War (aka the "War between the States") was not ALL about slavery. Few of the Union soldiers were fighting to free the slaves. The last thing they wanted was hordes of recently-freed Blacks coming up North and taking the available jobs. Few of the Confederate soldiers were fighting to retain the right to own slaves, as very few of them actually were in that position. For better or worse, the Rebels' loyalty was to the States where they lived, and not to the Confederacy, per se. They believed - not without legal basis - that those states had the right and power to secede, and did not consider themselves to be guilty of treason.

If people want to honor the memories of Confederate generals, how does that harm anyone? Scoundrels have been feted for all of history. That doesn't make one a racist. It's not ALL about slavery or about Black people.

The link doesn't say exactly what she said. Maybe if you replaced the word "celebrate" with respect it would make a difference without the spin. The babe has a pretty solid background as an A.F. pilot. What creds does AOC have besides marrying her brother?

Celebrating slavers makes you a racist you dipshit, at the very least you could try not being such a fucking coward about it as well. Be a proud racist. Being a coward and a racist is just hilariously sad and pathetic.

Lee and Jackson were honorable men and good soldiers

Saying black lives matter isnt saying white lives dont matter. However, your intention in saying white lives matter is an attempt to diminish the fact that black lives matter.
