Worst drought on record lowers Amazon rivers to all-time lows

I would love to give up my lawn, I already refuse to water it so it is all brown and shitty looking. I pay $590 a year for it to be mowed as part of our HOA fee. I do nothing else to it.

Well what a waste huh? Look up re wilding

You put the right plants in the right places and it irrogates, etc. Design it so the rain when it happens runs off in the right place to water the plants. It's just so much smarter.

I believe a lot of people in red states are doing it because they are suffering from drought. In Michigan we are surrounded by water.

But even we use a pump to suck out water from our lake to water our lawn. And that water goes right back into the lake.

would be against the HOA rules. But I do not mind a small amount spent for mowing, beats me doing it myself.

Your/my condo complex would re wild the entire place so no more hiring a lawn company to do your grass. Just hire one kid to walk the path every week with one of these

The worst drought on record has lowered the water level of the rivers in the Amazon basin to historic lows, in some cases drying up riverbeds that were previously navigable waterways.
The Solimoes, one of the main tributaries of the mighty Amazon River whose waters originate in the Peruvian Andes, has fallen to its lowest level on record in Tabatinga, the Brazilian town on the border with Colombia.
Downriver in Tefé, a branch of the Solimoes has dried up completely, as seen by Reuters reporters who flew over the river on Sunday.
The nearby Lake Tefé, where more than 200 freshwater dolphins died in last year's drought, has also dried up, depriving the endangered pink mammals of a favorite habitat.

This is crazy, the pictures from the area are almost unbelievable

Fecking hell, must have bad in the dinosaur days when co2 was 10 times the concentration and temperatures much much much higher than today. I wonder what their secret was to survival.

I'm gonna have to run about with my hair on fire looking for some water to put it out.

I’m starting to see republicans thinking. Fuck it. Use it while you got it.

But you are the guy on the lifeboat who won’t conserve water. Till maybe we figure something out. Refuse to see if there’s a better way. That could buy us time.

Eventually jesus is coming anyways right? You know how the end comes. It’s not global warming. If it was Jesus would have told you. Or the constitution
I'm not religious so don't ask me. But man has no impact on global climate.

Local, urban heat island affect, yes. But nothing global.

More like 18 times, but who's counting.

Okay fine. What's trump going to do to give us cleaner air? He said he's for cleaner air and water. What's he going to do to give us cleaner air?

Why do you think this is any different than the previous interglacial periods which were warmer than today?

Can you highlight the post I said that in?

Thanks!

Also, how were humans doing during the last interglacial period?

I didn't say you did say that. I was asking you a question if you thought it was any different in previous interglacial periods which were warmer than today.

There weren't many humans back then which is my point. It was 2C warmer than today with 26 ft higher seas than today and 120 ppm less atmospheric CO2 than today. So do you think today's climate is unusual? If so, why?

There weren't many humans back then which is my point.

That is my point as well. Looking back and saying it was hotter when there were little to no humans is sort of stupid. Climate change/global warming is not about what is will do to the earth, but the impact it will have on us humans. The earth does not care.

The climate is changing, there will be good and bad that comes from that.

We as humans need to start figuring out how to take advantage of the good and mitigate the bad as much as we can.

But we cannot do that because we are too fucking busy fighting over the cause, as if it really matters at this point.

No, it is well documented, you know with evidence and stuff.

Unlike your ramblings.

You cannot refute one word of that...

and your CHOSEN ASS really hates THAT TRUTH....

YOU SUCK AT BASIC SCIENCE

The point I am making is that humans aren't making it any hotter. There is nothing to do. The planet's climate will be what it is.

Correct. Climate change was terrible for ancient humans. We had no way of coping with temp extremes over long periods of time other than moving to a new region.

Very slowly.

Now we have technology to make our lives easier, no matter what happens.

Because science says so. With all the countries pumping up pollution, the planet is too fragile.

Let's say we don't want to take a chance. There may be stubborn risky scientists like you in the room but the cautious ones outnumber you. They say we need to go Green. Now run off and be a personality on Fox News saying you are a scientist and global warming is a HOAX because it's not 100% certain that it matters.

And yea, it won't matter to the 5 million that are left after we create a planet that can't be sustained so we have drought, famine, depressions, civil war, hunger.

But don't worry. It'll be eden for the people who survive it.

Science says today’s climate is worse than the climate when it was 2C hotter and the seas were 26 ft higher. Are you smoking crack?

No, science doesn't say that. Climatologists claim it, but with zero evidence.

The thing is, the other 9 scientists in the room are laughing at you or frustrated that you just don't seem to get that whatever you are saying doesn't matter. They've probably explained it to you 1000 times but you're stuck on this CO2 thing.

I had an aunt like you. Don't encourage her to ask questions because she'll never shut the fuck up and she'll derail the group.

Well you don't believe NASA when they say man made climate change is real and I don't believe them when they say we landed on the moon. So we're even.
