Are You REAL ID Ready?

If youve gotten a class one or class 2 drivers liscense youve been required to have a real ID for years now. thats when I got mine at the California DMV. It hasnt altered my life at all and no Feds have come knocking on my door
I've been Real ID compliant since retiring and moving to WA. I got an Enhanced Drivers License when I moved here. I like the convenience of being able to cross the border into Canada without a passport. It meets all the Real ID requirements, but Real ID doesn't provide the convenience to cross into Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean without a passport like EDLs do.

We're not talking about "real" IDs that are necessary for getting a driver's license, like a birth certificate, passport, etc. We're talking about a specific ID called the "REAL ID" that requires you to submit additional information to the government, and they're saying is going to be required for flying domestically, starting May 7.

So this is a specific ID called the "REAL ID"... And last time I got my driver's license, I didn't have to provide that, and obviously I couldn't have provided it since I don't have one, yet I was still able to get a driver's license.

I had to provide all that ( Birth certs, bills etc. ) at the DMV to get my class 2 , so I'm thinking its the same as REAL ID

How is having to prove one is a citizen a 'restriction?' Non-citizens already can get driver's licenses this will prohibit ILLEGALs from using their DL as a valid ID for legal residency or citizenship. 16 States already allow 'undocumented' immigrants (illegal aliens) to get driver's licenses.

And I say baloney. Now that Democrats don't care whether voters are citizens or not, it has become necessary for honorable Americans to have means to be reasonably sure that only eligible citizens are able to register to vote and are able to vote.

The only control is control that gives honorable America more assurance that our elections are honest, secure and reflect the will of the American people.

So you're OK with jumping through an increasing amount of hoops, in order to fly or enter a Federal building, just because you bought the pretext that has been sold to you?

I think the problem is you don't see the trajectory we're on. You don't see where this is all heading.

As I mentioned to someone else earlier on the thread, these problems or "crises" are manufactured, to be used as a pretext for more control, more surveillance, and more authoritarian agendas.

You don't believe that now, because you trust the current government. Maybe once the wrong people get back in power, you'll be a little bit more vigilant and not so willing to trade liberty for "security." That has been the trick used against us for decades. It's precisely what the founders warned us against.

I have a retired military ID.

Guess what?

Old military IDs are not accepted as REAL ID.

Check with your local RAPIDS office and make an appointment.

  • U.S. Department of Defense ID, including IDs issued to dependents
My ID is 30 years old, and good.

The problem will come when someone pushes for it to enable voting or to receive even more government cheese. And it will come, to eliminate any 'red tape' and to automate.
I don't have a problem with proving I am eligible to vote. Never have. Started voting in 1972 and offered my drivers license the first time. I've always thought it was pure stupidity to not validate the identity of a voter.

I just noticed that a couple threads were already posted on this topic in the last few months. But since Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem just made an announcement yesterday, I figured I'd post a new thread.

I agree with what Thomas Massie, Catherine Austin Fitts and others have said about this. This is about control and it's just another way for our federal government to track legal citizens. Under the guise of immigration reform. But if people don't object, it's not going to stop there. Make no mistake about that.

Everyone should be microchipped. It's the only way to stop the stolen elections.

Right??? Heck, I shouldn't laugh, because I have no doubt that someday people will willingly line up to be microchipped, because they bought whatever BS pretext was sold to them.

And btw (even if you don't believe this) speaking of that... that is biblical... the mark of the beast. Which I think it's safe to say many Ds and Rs will willingly accept.

I know. I posted a video saying that this legislation started with the Patriot Act.

The difference is, now they're saying that by May 7 it's required to fly or enter Federal buildings.
Republicans won't stand for this!

Mine's good for ten. Last one was too.
Mine too. As for the cost, I don't much care. It is required to travel internationally by every nation. I kind of have a problem with having to jump through a redundant, dual set of hoops to expedite entry with the Global Entry BS though. I sent my extra $85 to apply for that during covid and it required an interview-----250 miles away. I wasn't able to make the trip and the $85 was non-refundable, so I donated to the US treasury.

I got mine, but I had to for my job.

Thing is, if you don't fly, or don't need to enter a federal building, you don't have to get one.

Not sure what the big deal is. There are other ways of tracking you.
There is no more "off the grid". They know who and where you are. :)

Honestly, this is true. If you have a cell phone and an internet connection, the government already has all the tools to keep tabs on you.

We pretty much live in a world where true privacy doesn't exist.

I have no interest in Real ID. I think it is a joke. It implies that there is something wrong with or inadequate about the government's regular ID, and if so, that is their fault and their problem.
