Are you ashamed of your heritage?

I have many friends in the South who celebrate their heritage. That doesn't include the time a bunch of traitors tried to destroy our country.
Celebrating ones heritage includes 100% of ones heritage both good and bad. Don't pretend that your particular heritage doesn't have its dark moments.

It is the Confederate Battle flag. It was flown by the KKK and those fighting for segregation

Like I said there is much to celebrate in Southern heritage without celebrating the Confederacy. The Confederacy is a stain on Southern Heritage
That is how you think, not how they think. You are trying to apply northern liberal thinking to conservative southerners. Doesn't work.
Again - read what I am typing - they don't see it that way.
That is what YOU see in the flag, not what they see.
What most southerners see is a symbol of freedom (ironically) and freedom of tyranny.
Free thinking, free living - small government etc.

.

Although I've never proven my American indian heritage with a DNA test, after what the indians in my state have done with the dope cartels, I am deeply ashamed of them.

Try having a German last name, and my mother's maiden name is also German.
Even though my heritage is actually Nordic, many of them moved south into what is now Germany and took new names.
I was called Nazi more than once, especially when lessons were about WW II.

My condolences.

States' Rights was primary. Slavery was secondary.

Had we listened to Abe Lincoln, we would have sent the freed slaves back to their homeland. That would have reduced today's crime rate and racial tension in a MAJOR way.
The slavery apologists always pretend like America was only country in the world that had African slaves when 94 percent of African slaves went to just about every developed country OTHER THAN America.

Conservative WHITE Southerners
The Good ole days
Blacks see it as a symbol of oppression
Why it is no longer flown from state houses and courthouses

Good point
America stopped importing slaves from Africa in 1808

Our slave population still grew from one million in 1800 to four million in 1860

The Confederacy was 40 percent slave, hardly a symbol of freedom and nothing is more tyranical. Especially to blacks who still live in the South

The Confederacy was hardly free thinking or free living.
And no, it was not small government

Does Germany celebrate its Nazi heritage?

Are Germans not allowed to celebrate their heritage from start to finish? Remember ... a Democrat dropped Atomic Bombs on Japan and put Japanese Americans in prison camps. Should Democrats celebrate their heritage?

I don’t see Democrats celebrating atomic bombs or internment of Japanese

I see Republicans celebrating slavery

Either take responsibility for what your Party is guilty of or stop pointing fingers at others.
