Are you ashamed of your heritage?

In other words ... kids are encouraged to celebrate their heritage unless they come from the south. Mind manipulation.
I have many friends in the South who celebrate their heritage. That doesn't include the time a bunch of traitors tried to destroy our country.

Why would you celebrate a heritage of slavery?

Why would you celebrate a heritage of slavery?
You do realize that most southerners, by far actually, never owned slaves?
And the southerners didn't just leave the union over slavery, you also know that right?
They had a bunch of legitimate complaints.
So, true, central to this was indeed, and of course - slavery. But that was not what most southerners disliked the north for. Their leaders? Yes, but not the people themselves.

If they never owned slaves, then why are they celebrating that heritage?
The Confederacy was formed to ensure the continuation of slavery forever. 40 percent of the Confederacy was enslaved.
Ì have spent quite a bit of time in the South. There is much to celebrate about southern heritage…….the food, the language, the music, the customs.

The Confederacy is not worth cerebrating

Today is Culture Day at school. Students can choose any culture to celebrate by wearing representative clothing and such. Most kids have chosen their family culture. Most teachers are wearing things celebrating America because most of us love America. Nobody is wearing anything about the so-called "confederacy."
Nothing says America like jeans, sweatshirt, tennis shoes, and ball cap. Cool, functional, comfortable, and affordable.

Because you are unable to put logic over emotion
And must have never spent much time in the south - at all.
Very different culture than the north.

That is what I just said
Nothing wrong with southern culture

Celebrating the Confederacy is evil
They are better than that

Why would you celebrate a heritage of slavery?
Slavery has occurred globally. Even northerners had slaves and many southerners did not. One of the biggest slave owners of all time was a black man. And whites have been enslaved at various times in history.

So climb out of that little box you've been living in and look at the big picture. You can't hold entire regions hostage due to the actions of a few.

Save me your lost cause history
Everybody else did it
Celebrating the Confederacy is a celebration of slavery. There is nothing else about the confederacy worthy of celebrating

I have spent a lot of time in the South
I actually enjoyed it

But hate to say that a lot of what I enjoyed was Black Culture

BBQ, the Blues, Jazz

To claim you can’t celebrate Southern Culture without the Confederacy is BS

Celebrating the Confederacy is celebrating States' Rights and a small, Federal Government. I'll do THAT all day long.

Bull Shit
The Confederacy was built to preserve slavery not to preserve States Rights

A States right to allow Slavery

States' Rights was primary. Slavery was secondary.

Had we listened to Abe Lincoln, we would have sent the freed slaves back to their homeland. That would have reduced today's crime rate and racial tension in a MAJOR way.

You can’t separate the Confederacy from slavery
To celebrate the Confederacy celebrates slavery. Waiving that flag sends a message to blacks
To many southerners the flag represents their heritage, not the slavery attached to it.
It isn't even the original flag, to which I think might have been wise on southern states to revert back to the first flag because of that attachment.
But, nevertheless, when you see the union jack on a vehicle etc. in the south, it doesn't mean, whatsoever, that the occupants are racist or in any way support slavery.

It is the Confederate Battle flag. It was flown by the KKK and those fighting for segregation

Like I said there is much to celebrate in Southern heritage without celebrating the Confederacy. The Confederacy is a stain on Southern Heritage

The KKK were Democrats, by the way. Ever hear of Senator Byrd? Democrat Grand Dragon of the KKK.

Don't tell me that it's okay for Democrats to "renounce" their affiliation but it's not okay for southerners to renounce theirs.
