Are All Black Americans Racist?

I said it was all downhill from there Einstein.

What you stated coincides with what I stated.

The government crushed the Panthers in the mid 70s, when the crack was introduced...and the communities suffered thereafter.

Think McFly...

You said some key things there. You know your history well. Its a great source of pride, I'm sure, for you as well. Black Americans don't have this. Do you see why "Black History Month" needs to be in existence? Its not because we feel we need to have a special month or we're above anyone else...its because there's absolutely NO EDUCATION on such topics in any level of American education. So how are blacks (children) supposed to find out the MANY and VAST contributions their ancestors have given to this country and the world?
But my personal history wasn’t given to me through education. It was handed down through my families’ generations. I realize this is something that is impossible for many black Americans, because 1- I don’t know if record-keeping was important in their origin countries, and 2- it’s probably difficult to get access to any information recorded by slaveholders in early American history. It’s possible in some cases, but I would venture a guess that most of those records have been lost or destroyed.

Interesting choice of phrase "ad nausuem", sounds like you've had it up to here with it. Quite telling. Meanwhile from our perspective its not enough. I'd like you to list how you find it to be acknowledged to death thus far.
It’s a subject that gets thrown around like an unguided missile, intent only on destruction, and for the purpose of stirring anger, but it’s nothing that is generally discussed in a matter-of-fact manner without all the emotional garbage thrown in the pot. It’s acknowledged, but never discussed rationally or with an open mind.
What happened after the Civil Rights Movement to blacks when they were all united, all believed in the family and all were "on the same page?" Crack-Cocaine? Do you know how that came about? The war the government waged against The Black Panther Party, which was a community organization intended to further strengthen black families by educating themselves and strengthening their communities. .
This sounds like a bit of a conspiracy, but I’ll be glad to check into your opinions on the matter. Thanks.

Another blanket statement.

What change?

Expound...

If I may:

He is alluding to the missing exortation for blacks to change the status quo you described; "large swaths of blacks live in ghettos, come from broken homes, lack education, etc."

While I agree "It didn't just happen overnight. It's not because they, as a race (or whatever) feel inferior," I also don't believe they cannot improve their lot, themselves.

Frankly, I believe the change that is needed is for Black Civil Rights Leaders to turn inward to their own communities and foster an appreciation for education, personal responsibility, and respect. Instead, we see them all-to-often lobbing for additional funding for projects that don't have any effect.

Now that I write this, I'm struck with the similarities between this thread and conversations with Kalam about Islamist: If Islamists would demonstrate a concentrated, sustained effort to police themselves, then others would be much more sympathetic.
I agree. At no time do you see me state or suggest that blacks either feel inferior, are inferior or cannot overcome their circumstances. However, I believe most whites perceive that's whats being said or suggested.

Isn't that interesting?

Nor do you, or many black leaders/celebrities (with the possible exception of Bill Cosby) at any time say:

"Hey, Brothers and Sisters WE need to solve OUR problems: To celebrate the year 2013, and the 50th anniversary of MLK's "I Have A Dream" speech, No Black Folks will drop out of school, No Black Folks will commit a murder, No Black Folks will be born out of wedlock..."

etc., etc......you get the drift.

Its somewhat ironic to me to hear Obama talk about how the Iraqi people need to be Responsible for themselves......yet, the only reasonable response for "large swaths of blacks live in ghettos, come from broken homes, lack education, etc" are additional Federal Programs.

Samson, you should listen to Al Sharpton's and other black radio talk show hosts shows.

They are CONSTANTLY saying "We need to xyz..." to our own communities.

They're not gonna jump up on say...CNN and do that, they are going to consistently work towards working on the community...IN the community. This is why people like Al Sharpton is so beloved in the community. He's for the people. For real, for real.

The true statement is, YOU aren't aware of when people like him and other implore their fellow men to do better.

Crack wasn't introduced til the mid 80's

And it had nothing to do with the demise of the black panthers. You are not being honest and you know it. Fact is it cannot be established that the government had anything to do with the creation of crack cocaine.

Its a different experience.

That's why.

I can speak quite knowledgeably about this, because I'm not African American. I'm black, but from the Caribbean, but have been here for years now.

I USED to NOT be able to see why or how African Americans felt the way they did. However, the more I learned and the more I lived and the more I observed, the more I understood why.

There were things that happened to me when I first came here that I didn't understand or recognize to be racist, that I took with a smile in my young 15-year old mind, that in hindsight I recognize as straight up racism. However, the other blacks with more knowledge and/or experience, and all the African Americans...DID recognize it to be racist. True story.

What types of things?

No, it won't, because it requires no change from blacks.

:clap2::clap2::clap2:

I am also much more interested and willing to help someone that is prepared and motivated to make the change.

I have friends and aquintences. The friends will challenge, support and understand me.

No I AM aware.

I'm only explaining the "change" you were asking about.

The question is WHY aren't they "gonna jump up on say...CNN and do that???"

Why are they keeping this secret?

The message should be consistent in public and private. Maybe Sharpton is that way, but statements that have leaked regarding Jackson are quite different.

What types of things?
Remarks about expectations or the lack thereof rather, from administrators, teachers and other school staff to me and or other students, as a student. Also, disparaging remarks about African American leaders to a young impressionable mind. Other things here and there, but things of that nature.

You will never see me, and I suspect most other sensible blacks speaking about Jesse.

It seems to me that they need to focus more on doing, and not so much on saying.

Most likely a correct statement. I have been favorably impressed with his son however. Is that your opinion too?

Again...they are DOING.

You name a leader other than Al Sharpton that's willing to go to jail for others. And no, that's not what I'm considering he's doing, he's out there in the trenches... daily. Getting the awareness out, defending rights everywhere...encouraging people, building the community...etc. I'm not sure of much more people who can compare to him really.

15th post
If you're talking about Black American Democrats, then yes most do seem to be pretty hostile and racist. If you're talking about Black American Conservatives/Republicans,then no they are not racist. Since there aren't too many Black American Conservatives/Republicans,one could conclude that most but not all Black Americans are racists.

Symbolism, not substance. Being willing to go to jail for others and getting the message out may be an honorable sentiment, but this is playing on the emotions of those who hold him in high regard.
