that may happen but it hasn't yet and won't be soon.that may happen but it hasn't yet and won't be soon... socialism, I E Democratic fair capitalism with a good safety net is The best we will do till then... Now if we can get the corrupt GOP to stop having a corrupt bubble and bust and World Depression every other time they get in....
If capitalism doesn't destroy us first, by starting WW3, as it is doing now in Ukraine in pursuit of its profits, by selling over a hundred billion dollars in weapons to the US government and the EU, then it will happen. It's not maybe. The US fell into a deep depression in the 1930s for having just 23% unemployment and advanced automation and AI, is estimated by expert economists to take at least 60% of menial jobs and now estimates are about the same if not more for white-collar professions. Everything from paralegals to specialists who detect cancer in CT Scans will be out of a job.
My brother sells insurance to truck drivers, and he goes to the truck driver business conventions. In the last one he attended, the industry is now preparing to purchase self-driving, fully automated 18-wheelers. Conveys of 20, 30 self-driving 18-wheelers are now entering the market. That's a loss of at least five million jobs in the United States alone.
If capitalism doesn't destroy everything, It's not "maybe" or in the far future, when society will be forced to adopt socialism and later high-communism, it's within 20 years, 30 years tops. At this current rate of technological development, with artificial intelligence and robotics, I wouldn't be surprised if it's as soon as just a decade from now, in the 2030s.
.. socialism, I E Democratic fair capitalism
There is no such thing as fair capitalism comrade. Even if production is in the hands of democratically run labor cooperatives, the people will still face the chaos of markets and the inevitable cronyism. Corruption as a result of cooperatives competing with each other in the marketplace where still lead to the government passing laws in favor of some cooperatives at the expense of others and the public at large. Markets and money are superfluous, and inefficient once advanced automation is available.
What we need is rational central planning of the economy by a democratic federal, government in close collaboration with independent factories, managed by local municipalities (local governments under the authority of worker-run councils). This is true democracy, not capitalist production with its pursuit of profits at all costs. Non-profit, socialist production is not what you're saying.
with a good safety net is The best we will do till then...
You obviously have some type of financial capitalist interest in keeping it alive, hence your weird interpretation of socialism. Are you a capitalist?
Now if we can get the corrupt GOP to stop having a corrupt bubble and bust and World Depression every other time they get in....
The booms and busts are endemic to capitalism. That's how markets work. Boom and bust, and then socialism saves the day like Superman, with public funds:
That's not socialism. Socialism isn't just a social safety net and labor unions, it's the proletarian ownership of the means of production. It's the dictatorship of the proletariat (a worker's democracy). That's true socialism. What you are referring to is simply a mixed economy, with some socialist principles and perhaps even parties in government that call themselves "socialist" but they really aren't, because they continue allowing capitalists to run the show. They become tools of capitalism. A means to maintain the capitalist system, rather than fully transitioning to socialism. In a way these types of "socialists" are the worst enemies of socialism. They only go "half-ass", hurting and confusing everyone.
Germany is supposedly socialist now, under its socialist party and so is Spain, but they are pumping Ukraine with weapons, because weapons manufacturers are pushing their cronies in government to buy more weapons. The Russo-Ukrainian war has made tens of billions of dollars for Europe's defense industry. That's capitalism. I mention Europe because I remember you told me you lived in Spain. Here in the US we have the same situation. The MIC i.e. Military-Industrial Complex, is pushing American politicians to flood Ukraine with American weapons. Same shit. We're on the brink of destroying all life on this planet, in the pursuit of capitalist profits. True socialists, HATE CAPITALISM. We hate it. It will destroy the world.
Why don't we adopt clean, safe nuclear energy? The fossil fuel industry lobbies the US government to continue subsidizing them to the tune of tens of billions yearly and investing in coal plants, rather than clean, safe, modern nuclear plants. Certain industries with a lot of power have their cronies in government, that push their agenda through congress or parliament, at the expense of the public good. Capitalism is garbage, it will destroy humanity if we don't adopt another system of production.
