Planet Earth does not warm and cool as a whole. Earth climate change is about continent specific ice ages and how much ice is on the planet at any given time. Right now, there is 9 million cubic miles of it. During Jurassic, with virtually no land near the poles, there was much less ice, which is why it was WARMER WETTER and had HIGHER SURFACE AIR PRESSURE.

For large periods of the Earth's history there has been no ice even at the very poles.

We have completely defined faults and tectonic movement. The "Milankovich Cycles" tries, laughably, to FUDGE the past tectonic movement, but the course of North America and Greenland is essentially the same vector on a sphere, propelled by the same fault in the center bottom of the Atlantic. North America's ice age started 30-50 million years ago when North America was in the same location that Greenland is now. Once North America passed the "closest to the pole" position, it ceased moving NW and started moving SW, all on the same vector on the same sphere.
