Another place to cut government compensation cost

I know, why should government employees get that when no one else does? It essentially lowers their retirement age by 3 years over anyone in the private sector. Feds should collect their SS the same time everyone else gets to.
Not only do govt workers get when no one else does, but the “no one else” people have to subsidize it for the govt workers!

Goodie, goodie gumdrops for you.

You're not the problem, just a symptom, the SYSTEM is the problem and thus needs to be gutted.

The system worked well.
I saw experienced government employees handling complex requirements

You can gut your workforce of experienced workers and not replace them. You will suffer the consequences

The system worked out?! The government is operating in the red!

We will simply consolidate positions. The two IRS workers doing their jobs in three hours a day will be scaled back to one, working (almost) a full-day.

We can’t do anything about scammers like Rightwinger who exploited the system, but at least we can stop it going forward.
I wouldn't consider rightwinger a "scammer", rational people take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to them and I for one cannot fault someone for doing that.
First thing: everyone needs to show up at their office on Jan 21. And that includes people who bought and work out of an Ocean City condo or a big house on the Eastern Shore.
Agreed and I'd go one step farther and make sure those offices are moved to the most unpleasant places in the country (e.g. South side of Chicago, West Baltimore, etc..,) time for the bureaucrats to get a taste of what life is really like for the downtrodden people that they've been looking down their noses at. ;)

I remember when that was done in the late 80s
They were trying to get employees to switch from CSRS into FERS. The matching funds in the Thrift Savings Plan were a good incentive.

But CSRS employees were allowed to retire at 55 and FERS at 56. But their Social Security would not kick in till 62.
So they offered a bridge to cover those years.

As it was, I did not see many FERS employees retiring early

Blame Reagan for deficit spending
There are no additional government employees from when Reagan was President. Around 3 million

The system worked well.
Yeah I'm sure it did for the people that worked in it, not so well for those of us that were forced to pay for and suffer under it.
I saw experienced government employees handling complex requirements
If you only worked in a non-productive sector of the economy, how would you be able to recognize a "complex requirement"? Delivering products and services that consumers actually want and will voluntarily pay for while turning a profit and outperforming your competition is a "complex requirement", ever do that in government? yeah, I thought not.
You can gut your workforce of experienced workers and not replace them. You will suffer the consequences
Gladly.

Yea, you can do nasty things to your workforce to get them to quit
Your best employees have other options and will refuse to move.
Then you will have to pay Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances of about $100,000 an employee to move those who accept.

Those workers are managing a $7 trillion budget and monitoring things like Defense, Social Security, the environment, IRS, health services, Food and Drugs, TSA …..

If you think you can just terminate them with no impact, you are a fool

Yes, I know, that's the point, force the "best" to move from the counterproductive sector of the economy to the productive sector of the economy, in LeftWingerEse that's a doubleplus good.
Then you will have to pay Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances of about $100,000 an employee to move those who accept.
Is that all? Sounds like a bargain to perform a voluntary RIF of the entire executive branch.

Because taxpayers aren’t paying for the private employees,

What you are missing is that the assignments are very minimal because they have way too many workers among whom to divide the work.

Again, taxpayers aren’t paying for cheating.

:laughing0301: :laughing0301:

I worked for the govt for one year. Couldn’t stand all the make-work chores and just hanging around with the other workers because there wasn’t enough work. Left for corporate, and that was cut-throat: they expected 12 hours a day. Found a nice mid-point with non-profits: enough work, used my talents, but decent work-life balance.

I don't know what government job you had, but I worked my ass off when I worked for a government contractor.

The idea that private companies are efficient is laughable. I admit that small employers work their employees to death, pay them very little and screw their customers as much as they possibly can. They're very 'efficient', but their also thieves that believe they have the right to abuse everyone they're in contact with.

Efficiency in large corporations is a joke. Especially in the higher management levels. Brown nosing in the primary required skill.

The worst thing about both Government and private corporate management is that they don't care how much they pay to contractors. It isn't their money so they could care less. This drives of the prices on everything for everyone. If I want to hire a contractor to work on my property, I have to pay prices that are competitive with large corporations and government. The price of new cars is astronomical - because government and corporate managers are willing to pay top dollar. I can't compete with car rental companies.

It used to be that just about everyone occasionally bought a new car. Nowadays most people buy used 3-year old cars or take out a 3-year lease. That's because government and corporations are buying out all the new cars.

ROFLMAO! "managing" that's an odd way of saying "wasting", you don't need to convince me I right, I already know I am.
If you think you can just terminate them with no impact, you are a fool
Who said, "no impact"? I'm fully aware of the potential "impact" and am convinced that over the long-term it will be positive, which is worth any short-term pain. Let them go and 18 months from now the average citizen will have forgotten they ever existed and will be that much freer and more prosperous.

If citizens actually needed and wanted all the nonsense government has been wasting mountains of money on, there would be no need to use coercion to get them to pay for it.

Yeah, they’ve foisted the work onto contractors at triple the cost to taxpayers.

Can’t change your “Gibmint is useless” mindset with actual experience.

We will have to agree to disagree

You’ve got your head screwed on right! Welcome to the Board.

Yup

They have been attacking the government workforce for decades.
If you still need the job done, contractor employees are the answer.

When I joined the Government in 1978, we still had government facilities doing defense production and maintenance.
Defense Contractors bitched to their Congressman and got those facilities shut down and the work transferred to defense contractors.

It was much cheaper to use Government workers

You already did change my mind, I'm convinced that "Gibmint" isn't useless, if it were simply useless it wouldn't be so injurious to the liberty and prosperity of the lion's share of the citizenry, unfortunately its usefulness only extends to a certain small segment of the citizenry.
We will have to agree to disagree
That's fine, I commend you for your civility, something many around these parts seem unable to muster. :)

Conservatives make me laugh!

They have no concept of the realities of the world they live in. They are nothing but ill-informed cackling old goats - living in a delusional world.

The have no idea of the miracle work government does for them each and every day.

If they had any idea of history, they'd know what happens when government disappears:

When the Roman government was destroyed it led to 125 years of economic collapse and misery for all of Western Europe. It was called the dark ages. Only when the descendants of the Romans established themselves as the European Royalty and instituted government again did Europe start to recover.

Again, when the Soviet Union collapsed, the barely existing free libertarian 'government' under Yeltsin was an absolute disaster for the majority of the Russian people. It was a nightmare...elderly starved, people were 'paid' with whatever their company produced instead of cash, gangs and organized crime ruled over everyone. The murder rate soared. That's why the Russians love Putin so much...he came in as a BIG government pro law and order President. He destroyed organized crime (or got the under his control). He recreated Russia as a viable country. Too bad he eventually decided to become a nutcase tyrant.

I sure that there are dozens of times in history that lack of government has caused massive humanitarian disasters.

But it looks like you'll all be finding that out very, very soon!

Obviously since Men don't get pregnant in our world.

Yeah because neither the Roman nor Soviet governments had anything to do with the collapse of those nations.

I find it fascinating that the only arguments you left wingers are able to string together are ones that diminish the credibility of your own positions.
