AND the Poor GET RICHER!!!

Nothing is ever free.....

Someone is paying for all of it......... just not the ones receiving it.
Yep, us tax payers and those evil 1%

And you don't believe that evil 1% is receiving more than everyone else combined?

Let see.... the way i would see it.

The evil 1% are receiving from the blood sweat and hard work of the 53% .... right along with the 47% who pay no federal income tax and of who are part of whom the OP is speaking about.

why not bang on the job creators that aren't creating new jobs despite record corporate profits?

The problem with that is that employer profits are not what creates jobs. Demand beyond current production ability is what creates jobs. So, we cannot simply say "They have money they should create jobs." We need to address how to adjust our economy in ways that help to create more demand. That is how you will get businesses to increase supply.

Just out of curiosity, who do you think are these people who don't pay any income tax?

A poor rationalization for allowing upward mobility to vanish from the nation, A few trinkets and appliances do not equal prosperity, long term job security and wages that keep pace with inflation do. We no longer have that at all and it started vanishing about the time Reagan began his war on the poor.

Strange.. But here are the figures of current full time employed Americans
October(p).. 131,516,000
Maybe you should look at the FACTS!!!

How does that refute what I said? The fact that inflation adjusted wages have remained flat for the working class for decades is not even up for debate, it is a fact.

And yet not one of you would trade places with someone who's poor and trying to seek a job to raise their family.

AND WHY would I want to trade places with people that CAN get a job!
I read my local paper and there are plenty of jobs for those people that are willing to work!
$150 a day picking Apples in Washington!
$7/hr washing dishes in Florida..
AND you still can get a free Cell phone, free rent!

And IF you are one of those NOT working... I have received over 7,000 job notices since Jan 2010 just in emails alone..

And that is JUST ONE email!!!!

The OP is an example of not one ounce of objective thinking was required to start this thread and the above post is just a glaring example of not acknowledging the real world.
Healthmyths made this claim earlier in another thread. He is basically calling all unemployed people lazy.
But then there's facts:

Vital Signs: 4.5 Unemployed for Each Job Opening
Vital Signs: Four Unemployed for Each Job Opening - Real Time Economics - WSJ

It's a fact, that the lack of jobs has lead to an increase in poverty. So instead of banging on the victims, why not bang on the job creators that aren't creating new jobs despite record corporate profits?

1) That still means one more person could get a job IF they wanted!
That 4.5 ratio has always been true!
2) INCREASED POVERTY???
a) did you ever go to bathroom LIKE I did every day in an outhouse?
b) did you ever eat squirrel and chase down a rabbit for dinner?
c) YOU NEVER gleaned corn much less KNOW what that means?
d) Did you ever sprout potatoes in basement just so wouldn't throw away?
e) Did you EVER pick walnuts and resell them?

I DID and I am the better for it because UNLIKE these lazy poverty pimps who ONLY know how to pick up welfare checks.. I can always find something to do which will give me food or a place to sleep!

I DON"T have any PITY for the majority of people that are in poverty status because the Majority of them have been so pimped out but idiots like you that think it is compassion give food rather then teach someone how to get their own food!

It is the HEIGHT of arrogance that people like YOU want to KEEP the majority of people POOR so you can tell them what to do!
Why don't you come up with an idea.
Form a company.
Hire someone?
That's what I've done!
18,000 times a day people use my services!
But without having had to go in an outhouse, glean corn, sprout potatoes.. I would not form the habit of getting up earlier then the next guy!
And as a result I don't depend on the charity of others and I also KNOW probably better then you what it means to be POOR but not helpless!

Get off YOUR BUTT and quit taking the easy road of destroying constructive efforts! Quit being a jealous envious person!
Be a real human and teach someone to fish..(of course if that goes over your head..) show someone HOW you've bettered yourself through hard work and DON'T be bitching about something YOU could do to make a difference!

You know what else is amazing about this stupidity? The poor getting "richer" is apparently a bad thing...? Is our goal supposed to be to make sure the poor get poorer? And even after all that, are we supposed to, for some reason, simply ignore the fact that the poor are still, in fact, poor?

The problem is that the poor do not suffer enough to suit them

Corporate socialism was sold to the country as a general benefit, that a rising tide raises all of the boats but that is clearly not the case. The incredibly destructive income gap is a threat to our freedom as it is in every country that has allowed the moneyed class to structure the economy and government for their benefit alone. It is the traditional path to fascist authoritarianism, we are no different than any other country that allowed the elite to gain increasingly greater control.

My granddaughter wouldn't trade places with one of those stupid people who work that's for sure. With all her bennies, she's raking in almost $5,000 a month.

I think your granddaughter is not telling you about a little business she has on the side, if she's raking in that much money.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Technological advances might be higher from one era to the next!

Only speaking for self here, but being one of the poor who has pulled themselves out of poverty, going backward to trade places would not be very smart.

When I was very poor, I had no phone, not even a land line. I had no TV.
The place I resided (after living for a time on the streets) had such poor insulation that in the winter frost would build up on the walls. Although I did have running water, it was not always hot water, mostly tepid, at times cold, which did not make bathing fun. I hand washed the few clothing items I had. My luxury items were a new toothbrush and toilet paper.
I either walked, at times miles, to where I needed to go or depended on friends for a ride to get to my min wage job where I saved enough money to purchase a $400 beater car. I was fortunate enough to be given a free meal at my place of employment on the days I worked. On the days I didn't work ramen ruled my dinner table once a day meaning I only ate one meal a day.
My survival was not due to any welfare benefits. I was not even aware of any such benefits.
I found myself in this situation after I had graduated from college and at that time there was a recession.

As Syrenn posted earlier, the definition between want and need has changed.
I agree.

Wow

You know you are in trouble when conservatives try to console you by telling you that your standard of living is better then the 1900s

Hey - we don't live in the slums anymore! We're just live below poverty, which means we have to live out on the street or if we're lucky, we have to starve ourselves to pay for our rent!

Oh and if we have unemployment benefits, we'll make 25% of what we used to earn - yeah! Billionaire Vegas here we come!

In the 1900s NOT EVEN THE PRESIDENT of the USA, NOR the richest people or MOST powerful kings EVER HAD what the "Rich Poor" have now!

FREE instant communications with each other FREE CELL PHONES!
In 2008, the fund that foots the bill for this program contributed $819 million to subsidize low-income telephone services.
The fund is projected to grow to over $1 billion this year.
That’s $1 billion of over $800 billion the United States will spend on welfare in 2010. Welfare recipients now eligible to receive cell phones
Welfare recipients now eligible to receive cell phones
a) Free Cell phone (my cell phone I PAY is about $100/month)
if the poor person receives just one of the below:
Food stamps * Medicaid * Section 8 * Supplemental Security Income * National School Lunch Program
NO KING or PRESIDENT EVER GOT FREE FOOD!!!
b) 40 million Americans on food stamps get $200/month in free food.

FREE HOUSING for KINGS??? NO THEY HAD to FIGHT for the RIGHT!!
c) about 2.1 million households (6 million) use Section 8 the Housing Choice Voucher program, pays a large
portion of the rents and utilities of or the Housing Choice Voucher Program up to $1,000 /month in FREE housing...

FREE MONEY FROM the Government??
Unheard of EVEN KINGS and monarchs and dictators had to FIGHT each day to keep the coffers coming!!!
BUT THE "RICH POOR in the USA??
1) Don't work. 2) have kids..
=== $ 5,666 in EIC cash, instead of paying in THEY GET!!!

=== $12,000 free housing ,
=== $ 2,400 free food,
=== $ 1,200 in free cell phone plus
=== $ 5,000 a year in free health care from Medicaid.
=== unknown free transportation expenses...

ADD IT ALL UP
$26,000 a year in FREE MONEY, free goods and free services...

NOW tell me a KING or a President in the 1900s that could say they had all of that???
FREE communications.. free food... free shelter AND FREE MONEY!!!
