I once believed the bible was The (unadulterated) Word of God.
The more I've learned about it, the more mistakes and errors in translation I've come upon. There are few if any original texts of the Old Testament in existence unless they're buried deep in the Vatican or isolated Coptic monasteries.
The Vulgate bible was clearly put together to fulfill an agenda and is missing a massive amount of writings about the life of Jesus. Again, a huge amount of stuff lies gathering dust in the Vatican.
The King James version was ordered to make it more "palatable" to the common people of the United Kingdom. The king specifically told those who put it together to make it lyrical, a form of poetry. All one has to do is compare that to the Vulgate to see the differences.
However, the basic tenets make sense no matter where they come from. Be nice to one another. Create loving and protective families. Propagate and raise the children wisely.
What more is there?
