I would say that a real man, and a true leader, is someone who has strength of character, integrity, wisdom, courage, and other qualities that people can genuinely admire and respect....and confidence too.

To address the OP - "real men" is a social construct, where alpha male is a genuine character trait.
"Real men" is an old term - another term is "Man's man". Generally a masculine male. A man who fixes things, likes sports, drinks beer, his appearance centers around what is easy - because he doesn't really care what he looks like. A man who has virtually no feminine characteristics or stereotypes.
