As one of the people old enough to remember teh gas embargo and gas lines, if Presidents could control the price of oil there wouldn't be such things. What a President does can infliuence the price but only temporarily as much as attacking a middle east country sparks fear and uncertainty which effects prices. But no President can say oil's gonna drop about 65% in a month's time.

Eventually, yes it will. The new wells that the new technology opened up have a shorter production life cycle. Lower prices mean no more expensive exploration to keep production up. Soon demand will catch up and the prices will go back up regardless of which party controls the WH.

In theory, you are correct. However, artificial tinkering, OPEC releasing trillions in reserves to bring the rig count down for shale producers, tends to bend that school of thought.

I agree somewhat. But, has OPEC increased production quotas? I agree several countries have deep reserves of cheap oil and will out last American companies, again. Saudi Arabia can make money at 20 dollars a barrel I hear.
