Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Gets Entire Solar Co. Workforce Fired After Telling Them to Unionize

Cheering on rich CEO's getting richer by putting workers out of business right before the holidays....ahh CONservatism at its finest.
The dumbasses put themselves out of work by following the advise of a Socialist Demtard.

There's nothing wrong with getting richer, at least not in a free country.

The greed of union bosses leaching into companies and employees is wrong.

I'll bet the union bosses that helped AOC convince these workers to fire themselves didn't lose their positions. What would you bet?

"The owners of a solar power company fired their entire workforce after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agitated the workers and urged them to unionize.

Looks like having the queen of the Green New Deal telling them to unionize was probably not the best advice, huh?

Last week, Bright Power decided to fire its staff and farm all the work out to subcontractors instead of maintaining their own workforce. The firing occurred just as the workers were following Ocasio-Cortez’s advice to form a union.

So who put them out of work, Democrats or Republicans?

They would have had a job through and after the holidays had they not been plotting against the company. Blame conservatives for that?

Unemployment compensation for simply being naturally unemployed on an at-will basis is better.

A fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage and fourteen an hour for unemployment compensation on an at-will basis in our at-will employment States.

Sounds like you need these conditions to thrive don't you.

With the social bailout after 1929? We could have solved simple poverty Yesterday, but for the social horror it may cause the right wing.

Won't it be funny now if the subcontractor they hire is unionized?

No. The "employer" wants to take his company 100% 10-99 workers. He fires everyone on paper.

It's like these employees no longer fit into their business model, but the unemployment rate is at lifetime lows, they should have little problem picking up work elsewhere.

There is nothing wrong with unionizing to protect your jobs and wages either and yet they were fired for trying to do so. No surprise MAGAtards kiss the ass of rich CEO's. Trump is no populist he is a bullshit artist who became president to help himself and his companies and knew he needed a forgotten part of the electorate to do it and throws them a bone every once in a while. Exactly why the wall will never get built because shit like him NEED low income workers so the CEO's can get richer, exactly why he put his Jew son in law in charge of the wall construction...

BS. You can't solve the poverty ever by screwing the productive.

But that's not even the objective.

Socialists, like all Totalitarians, need an underclass suffering and dependent on them. That's why Democrats want to give Welfare and Food Stamps to the poor as opposed to a Job.

You've never hired a subcontractor, have you?

It's rare that subcontractors are unionized, because nobody that doesn't have a gun to his head pays twice the price to gave work done.

You've never signed the front of a paycheck, have you?

When you go out to eat, do you make sure the waitresses and dishwashers are getting union wages?

Demtards love mandating OTHER PEOPLE pay extra monet.

Actually I've been president and CEO of two businesses. Why do you seem to think I'm defending unions from a simple humorous comment? Businesses made unions NECESSARY at one time so gravely they abused workers in ways unthinkable today. That kind of abuse is over, but the sad fact is that other subtler abuses still continue in the face of foreign competition. To make the "minimum wage" of the late 1970s today, you'd have to earn at least $13.00/h. Fact. How many people actually make LESS than that? Look around. Put another way, the reason why so many people struggle today is because anyone making $7.25 -$13.00 today is actually making less than minimum wage was in 1979! Federal MW today has fallen below 56% what it was in 1979 due to COLI. We have created our own poverty class and allowed a poverty class level of product with it (Chinese imports) to subsidize it. In a word, there is your disparity of labor: the rich elite able to live the good life, and everyone else.

However, unions have created their own miseries as well. In my experience, every time a union gets involved, it literally prices itself out of business out of greed, not just wanting fair wages, benefits and conditions for its workers, but out of greed, takes and takes irrespective of company costs and business to the point that eventually, the whole thing usually caves in. We simply cannot compete with a 3rd world where slave labor is the norm, so the solution is to either become 3rd world ourselves (a trend we seem headed for), or to just not compete at all and be isolationist, a means that Trump has tried to foist upon the country and its people seem to be rejecting-- -- -- in favor of 3rd world wages and standards for the many.

Yeah, plantation owners get really pissy when labor gets all uppity.

They had a right to unionize.

The CEO had a right to fire them.

The employees caused their own firing.
Employees should accept whatever an employer does to them.

I disagree. If an employee has a problem with an employer, he should speak to the boss and if dissatisfied, he can quit.

Yes, if you are in the tech, medical, construction or financial sector, etc., you'll do well. But if you are in the service sector or one of the others many formerly limited education, low-skilled or disabled people traditionally relied upon mostly being replaced by robotics now, you'll starve. People want a living wage for themselves, but are frighteningly often afraid or unwilling to pay it to others where they don't have to.

I misunderstood your humor and agree with parts of your post. Apologies. My addition follows:

"At one time" Unions were necessary. My father was a Union Steward. OSHA and related agencies have largely made unions obsolete.

Unions have never been effective for the workers overall in wage demands because increased wages decrease the need for the union workers themselves as non union shops take their jobs away.

The Unions aren't there to benefit workers, they're there to benefit the Union Bosses. Union Bosses almost always do well, regardless of how the company or the workers do.

I would support limited tariffs on imported goods, especially those made with slave and near-slave labor. But another solution is to stop domestic tariffs (AKA corporate taxes), which in and of itself would lower the demand for imports.
