Aches and Pains

Ah, a hot bath. That is a good one!

Hubby is retired now but where he worked was a resort here in town. Well, next town over. Their jacuzzi is HUGE. And I mean HUGE. About 10 feet long, 8 feet wide. Like a mini swimming pool. I used to go there and do exercises in it but don't any more because he retired. I could go if I asked...but the problem is..by the time I get OUT and dried off, I am so at ease pain free, I wanna lay down and sleep. But it is too far away and I would be driving all melty and snoozy, lol. So..I don't go any more.

Gotta get yourself a designated melty driver. That jacuzzi sounds pretty good.

Well duh. I never thought of that!!! A driver!!!! DUH DUH DUH!! All this time...it never crossed my mind! Hmm. Sister in law. Maybe. Hubby won't do it. So that leaves her.

What do you do to try to alleviate the continual aches and pains? Any secrets ya wanna share?

Personally, I am getting tired of it. Mostly it's at night. What's up with that?

I'll just echo what others have said, I hope your seeing a Doctor regularly. You're not old, you're young. And don't be afraid to Doctor shop, they're not gods.

Ah~ and in exchange you give her the sake for her time. Win-win.

Tried that (glucosamine). Gave me heartburn something fierce. Does not go well with GERD.

Face it folks. I'm just fucked up. Dammit. I was supposed to be harley riding and sky diving at 65, not ouching every time I move.

I live in the Peoples Republic, but out here I know a woman who MediCAL bought a hot tub for, as a rehabilitation device. You might check with your insurance carrier.

I was in a living hell for quite a while

until I ran across a Doctor that wasn't adverse to prescribing a painkiller to match the pain. I had no clue. Overnight I was back in the land of the living. So I don't know if you were joking or not but for many there is a lot of truth in your quip.

Get this:
I take ONE vicodin a day. ONE. At night. About 11pm. At about midnight, I take half a xanax to help me sleep.
It's like pulling teeth to get the doc to give me a perscription for 30 vicodin that helps with pain which I only take at night and suffer during the day and sometimes I take only HALF of that vicodin. So a 30 day supply lasts me anywhere from 45 days to 60 days. And even then, he balks. New rules they have. I might become addicted. I might abuse them. Gimme a break. It pisses me off no end that I have to battle him every time I need a damn refill. And no, I can't take advil he says. But I can take tylenol. **** tylenol. I may as well take a piece of candy for all it does.

I'm gonna start on advil again. **** it. And I will have to battle again for the vicodin in about..oh...30 days cuz I will be out in about 15 days. Eye roll.

Let's see Doc...
I'm over 60, worked my ass off all my life, now my quality of life makes it all hardly worth it, and there may be medication to help, but you're worried I might become dependent? I think I'm old enough and have earned the right to do the simple math on that calculation myself.

I've had my share of aches and pains while wrestling in high school. I found that relaxing in the pool or at the beach in the water helped considerably. No swimming, just standing or floating in the water. The water seemed to help ease the pain somewhat. Exercising was the worst thing to do as it made the pain even more unbearable.

Cold therapy for inflammation, heat for stresses and pulls. Methadone three times a day with, Hydrocodone, Baclofen, a chaser of Meloxicam with a side of Gabapentin.

She's talking arthritis pain. You've got to work that out. Not hard at first, I keep saying that but you have to keep moving. What is wrestling pain, is that in the muscles?

wow, that's quite a list.

have you ever trued interventional pain management?

LINK:Worth a Look

If you do nutritional research on your own this is absolutely the best site I've found. It tells you almost everything about almost every food. For example if you wanted to know where a food rates on the inflammatory or anti-inflammatory scale you'll find it there. Or how "complete" a food is. It's a great resource. I don't recommend self diagnoses but everybody should self educate. After all there is nothing more important than health, especially at our age. A couple of examples of the graphics, they give many more for each food. And make understanding the info simple.

I gotz a red neck hot tub. A 55 gal barrel over an open fire with Mexicans blowing into pvc hose that creates them bubbles.

Which ones?I had rehab, physical therapy, acupuncture, TENs units and a little device called a vertebra spinal stretcher, oh and the inclining chair.
Blow jobs work the best but, them nurses always run away when I tell them that.

15th post
I just had a KILLER idea!!!! Gonna call the resort tomorrow and see if I can book a room! CHEAP! They will, cuz hubby worked for them for a very long time and they STILL want him to come back to work even though they know he won't.
So..I book a room, get all settled in (being during the week and in the winter time, no problem), then go do my floating and exercise...go back to the room, snooze, watch tv...then later go do it again...go back to room, order room service....hit the very comfy bed. No driving until the next day!

I wonder if I can do that once a week? Beats having an empty room if the price is right. Some money is better than none. (Except when tourist season starts. Then it will be a no go).

Concerning a redneck jacuzzi...I want one of those old clawfoot bathtubs to but in the back yard. Run a hose from the tap in the bathroom, fill it up, soak. When done, unplug and water the lawn with what was in the tub.

Only prob is..I can't find one. been looking on Craigslist but they want too much. Maybe a kiddie plastic pool?

I'm 67 and have many of the same complaints. I still lift weights but can't walk or run the way I used to. Have one hip that just about makes me cry. Caused by childhood trauma.

Working out in hot water is the best. I have to drive 24 miles each way but its worth it. You're right about wanting to fall asleep afterwards though.

Rhus tox is a homeopathic remedy, known as the rusty gate fix. I really does work. Keep moving. If you rest, you rust.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure its not gonna be getting any better.

Hang in. In the end, that's all any of us can do because its still better than the alternative.

AND, the bed you sleep in.

A couple of years ago, we got a Tempur pedic and it changed the way we sleep. Its really amazing. They're expensive but more than worth it.
