Aches and Pains

What's your diet like, Gracie? There is increasing data connecting joint aches and other physical woes to inflammation caused by food allergies, especially refined carbohydrates. Have you ever tried eating a diet without gluten?

Been gluten free for almost 2 years now. It helps, cuz if I break down and have just a small dinner roll..I pay for it. I stopped drinking soda years ago...but started drinking a cup of sprite every night with cherry juice in it. Just for something different.
Don't know why or how the hip bursitis started. Might have to bite the proverbial bullet and get a shot for that, which is NOT what I want to do.
Cut back on the advils too. But I might start taking them again due to the antiflamatory agents in it.
Could be due to this weird weather too. Some days, it feels like deep summer and its in the 80's. Next day, it is only upper 40's.

I did as someone suggested and did some minor exercises this morning. Did some stretching, arm rolling, leg lifting, foot raising, back stretching. Will do it again tonight.

Is it really hard for you to exercise? I'm just asking. I do not know if you have any medical conditions that would prevent you from exercising. Sometimes people think they just cannot exercise because they are just too out of shape or too old. In almost all cases neither is true. Even minimal exercise such as just walking can make a huge difference in the way you feel.

Rhuematoid arthritis and now hip bursitis. About 10 lbs overweight. I used to walk the dogs but can't any more without collapsing in pain from my left hip. Did some gardening today and thought fer sure I was having a heart attack, so I stopped.
I miss walking the dogs. I just can't do it.
The aches and pains I am talking about is the non stop throbbing, aching in my wrists, knees, shoulders. Even resting, it hurts. And the past 2 days, nonstop pain in my chest. I'm getting tired of it and I am only 62. WTF am I going to feel like at 70???

Like I said...just whining. Sniff. Honk.

Get to the ER NOW.

it needs to be evaluated. Might be atypical chest pain but might be a sign of that chest pain.

Not hurting right now, hon. And it is only at night. No shortness of breath. No numbness. No jaw pain. Just a deep ache under my RIGHT breast. Not the breast itself..deeper inside. If it was left side and I was having a hard time breathing, i would go.
I think it is stomach issues.

Have you considered the possibility of alien infestation? I'm just sayin' cover all your bases...

OK, then it might be severe GERD, which is also nothing good, but not that emergent.
might be the stomach as well - gastritis, stress ulcers ( if the other pains have been around for a longer time - that might have caused the very small ulcers in the stomach mucosa.

needs to be evaluated.

warm sake is not a bad idea just not this second ( until this possible stomach pain gets evaluated)

Are you a physician? A nutritionist? If not, STFU.

I've read some of your posts and most were considered and rational. You've picked a bad thread to be an asshole. What was that Sake business, a joke? Bad thread for jokes.

I know it hurts to move, Gracie but you have to start slow and keep going everyday. Drink a lot of water, do things that will get and keep your lungs working like stand up and sit back down in your chair. Do it at whatever pace you can but do it everyday.

If you don't keep moving, you will be sitting there all the time in pain. 62 is not old age.

No joke, it works well for joint pains. I've conducted extensive personal research on the subject.

Sorry if I didn't offer dangerously irresponsible unqualified medical advice on a message board.

Humor helps. But I am afraid of the sake. Vox got it spot on....it is probably GERD. I just told her that in pm and just now saw her post it AFTER I pmd her.

I think I am going to blame the Sprite on the chest pain. The joint pain is just being an old lady that doesn't much like being an OLD lady.

I was in a living hell for quite a while

until I ran across a Doctor that wasn't adverse to prescribing a painkiller to match the pain. I had no clue. Overnight I was back in the land of the living. So I don't know if you were joking or not but for many there is a lot of truth in your quip.

I get some exercise, Sara. Did a LOT of gardening yesterday. And I did some exercises this morning. Gonna do it again in a few. Might even soak in a hot tub of water tonight and have hubby help me get OUT of the tub, lol.

I started falling apart at age 58 and I wasn't supposed to. I blame that on my antique shop. I've always been stubborn, so lifting 12 x 10 hand woven 50 year old persian rugs in and out of the store, moving vanities, dressers, heavy antique benches, etc....plus doing property management and painting cathedral ceiling units for new tenants PLUS doing all the gardening by myself for the whole complex....I just worked my ass off. It started with a stiff pinky finger. Went to doc, had xrays, said it was RA. Then it went to my wrists. Then my knees. Then my lower back. Decided to visit my hip and shoulders and its been downhill ever since. They wanted me to take RA meds that can cause cancer, swollen air tubes, and more damage from the drug than the RA and I said no.
But I do know I have GERD..so I watch what I eat. However, not that the hip bursitis set in, I can't even walk the dogs. And no gall bladder, I have to know where every toilet is in the county. Which turned me in to a hermit. And hermits have nothing else to do but sit in front of a monitor and whine. Hence..this thread.

Ah, a hot bath. That is a good one!

Out of necessity I've done a lot of research on diet, and inflammation as Pennywise mentioned can cause or add to many problems.

Okay. Pain affects you mind and body. Just keep your body moving as much as you can. Don't hurt yourself anymore but let moving be your focus.

Get this:
I take ONE vicodin a day. ONE. At night. About 11pm. At about midnight, I take half a xanax to help me sleep.
It's like pulling teeth to get the doc to give me a perscription for 30 vicodin that helps with pain which I only take at night and suffer during the day and sometimes I take only HALF of that vicodin. So a 30 day supply lasts me anywhere from 45 days to 60 days. And even then, he balks. New rules they have. I might become addicted. I might abuse them. Gimme a break. It pisses me off no end that I have to battle him every time I need a damn refill. And no, I can't take advil he says. But I can take tylenol. **** tylenol. I may as well take a piece of candy for all it does.

I'm gonna start on advil again. **** it. And I will have to battle again for the vicodin in about..oh...30 days cuz I will be out in about 15 days. Eye roll.

Um. Kinda hard for me to do that. I guess I am just wondering if growing old is this continual ache and does it ever get any better. In short...I'm whining. Gimme a tissue.

I'm with auditor, lifting weights helps a lot. It loosens muscles and joints. Do light weights and cardio.

Glucosamine helps joint pain.

Ah, a hot bath. That is a good one!

Hubby is retired now but where he worked was a resort here in town. Well, next town over. Their jacuzzi is HUGE. And I mean HUGE. About 10 feet long, 8 feet wide. Like a mini swimming pool. I used to go there and do exercises in it but don't any more because he retired. I could go if I asked...but the problem is..by the time I get OUT and dried off, I am so at ease pain free, I wanna lay down and sleep. But it is too far away and I would be driving all melty and snoozy, lol. So..I don't go any more.

Tried that (glucosamine). Gave me heartburn something fierce. Does not go well with GERD.

Face it folks. I'm just fucked up. Dammit. I was supposed to be harley riding and sky diving at 65, not ouching every time I move.
