About USMB and it’s status as a “conservative(?) Board” etc.

Meaning that they let you get away with your crap. Unlike the ones you got kicked off of.
Perhaps you would be happier over on Dem Underground.....Can someone please hand him his hat. ;)

The FA is not for language I agree with, its to protect the language I detest.
Cat ladies?? You insult CAT ladies??? Darn, there's such a thing as going too far with free speech ------ 🐈

But never mind that, I thought what I cite above was a new way of saying the Voltaire thing, it woke me up.

What I have come to think, after decades on this and other such, most of it with me hopelessly confused, is that only with a free marketplace of ideas do I have any hope of figuring out what is going on. And to know what people really think, because after the whole country ended up astounded and amazed the morning after Election Day 2016, I realize it would be just as well if people weren't afraid to say what they really think, even before they go into a voting booth, or get their guns out, or secede, or other interesting activities. I include even the obscenities guys, though I often put them on Ignore if they go after *ME*, because it's as well to recognize when people are seriously angry, as cursers often are. Or when language or conventions are changing.

Free speech is information. Monitored and censored speech a la Facebook is just propaganda, of no use at all.

Now. Back on topic. This is a mostly liberal/progressive/Democrap/libtard board. And it frustrates the bejeezus out of many libtards here that they cannot enjoy another libtard echo chamber.
Okay. Don't know that I agree with your estimate of the balance, but then, most of my Ignore list IS on the Left, so maybe I've now got a bias in how many I see of left and right.

I THINK you are saying that they are so angry because they can't ban us. Huh. I thought it was because they are losing so bad, which they are. You are saying they are angry because they can't impose their standards onto us.

Holy shit! Yes. That was the point. I mimicked your inane babbling bullshit sufficiently well to get even you to recognize how meaningless it was.
I don't come here for 'meaning'. I come here to observe, and nothing more. My contributions may or may not have meaning. :dunno: I don't think all that much about it.
There may be hope for you yet. I doubt it. But it’s still possible
And there you go, right back to being an idiot again.

I suppose I was unclear. I contend that since they can’t silence their opponents here at USMB, they see this place as being outrageously conservative. Any place that even tolerated conservative discourse “must be” conservatively biased.

But their anger also stems from the fact that since there is no suppression of conservative speech, here, it follows that some actual debate does take place. And as a consequence of THAT, they do tend to get their “arguments” smashed to smithereens on a very regular basis. So yeah. They’re mad about losing and they’re mad about being exposed in the process, too.

And the weird thing is, one of the Daughter's friends is moving in with us while she finds that whole job thing. She has one of those fell feline beasts.

The angry Poodle has already informed me that, yes, there will be blood...

And yet on this board I am constantly accused of being a republican. Do your research prior to attacking.
What is there to research? State your positions on the issues as they arise.

If it waddles like a duck and swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, chances are that it’s a damn duck.

Well we agree again. You are meaningless.
And there you go, right back to being an idiot again.
You’ve never been anything but an idiot. I realize it offends you to think that there may be hope for you. Oh well. Don’t fret. It’s still a fucking long shot.

I have to agree, there are basically no conservatives on this forum.

There are a lot of Trumpers, there are a lot of Repubs but damn few conservatives.
Love it when you Leftists define Conservatives, or Christians, or anything else you have no experience or knowledge of. Your post is the classic Alinsky tactic of misdirection and disinformation. So, while the following may not change your inaccurate mindset, Komrade, for others to consider;

List of American conservatives

...
American conservatism is a broad system of political beliefs in the United States characterized by respect for American traditions, republicanism, support for Judeo-Christian values,[1] moral absolutism,[2] free markets and free trade,[3][4] anti-communism,[4][5] individualism,[4] advocacy of American exceptionalism,[6] and a defense of Western culture from the threats, whether real or perceived, posed by socialism, authoritarianism, and moral relativism.[7] The recent movement is based in the Republican Party, though some Democrats were also important figures early in the movement's history.[8][9]

The following list is made up of prominent American conservatives from the public and private sectors. The list also includes political parties, organizations and media outlets which have made a notable impact on conservatism in the United States. Entries on the list must have achieved notability after 1932, the beginning of the Fifth Party System. Before 1932, terminology was different. Positions that are called conservative after 1932, were typically called "liberal" (ie classical liberal) before then. Likewise European liberals, such as Friedrich Hayek, were called conservatives when they came to America, which puzzled Hayek.[10]

Somewhere in the wasteland of your tiny, meaningless opinion, you actually believe I'm seeking hope and validation. In this place. :auiqs.jpg:

Umm, okay.

Or not, and if you had done any research at all you would know this. As is, you just post your own biases.

For the record, I am unaffiliated and at least try to listen to both sides. I do not abide known lies from either side, which seems so unlike you.

No. Repubs/Trumpers are clearly the majority here.

Neither of those groups are conservatives
Curious to know how you would define Conservative within the USA political spectrum.

The World's Smallest Political Quiz is a ten question educational quiz, designed primarily to be more accurate than the one-dimensional "left–right" or "liberal–conservative" political spectrum by providing a two-dimensional representation. The Quiz is composed of two parts: a diagram of a political map; and a series of 10 short questions designed to help viewers quickly score themselves and others on that map.

The 10 questions are divided into two groups, economic and personal, of five questions each. The answers to the questions can be Agree, Maybe or Disagree. Twenty points are given for an Agree, ten points for a Maybe, and zero for Disagree. The scores are added for each group and can be zero to one hundred. These two numbers are then plotted on the diamond-shaped chart and the result displays the political group that agrees most with the quiz taker. The map consist of two dimensions: Progressive – Moderate – Conservative and Libertarian – Moderate – Authoritarian. If you Score 100 you are plotted in the top as Libertarian, if you score 0 you are plotted on the bottom as Authoritarian, if you score 100 at personal, and 0 at economic you are placed as Progressive to the left, and vice versa if you score 0 at personal and 100 at economic you are placed at the right as conservative. If you score 50 or both you are placed in the middle as Moderate. The edges for Moderate goes at between 35 and 65 on each scale.

The quiz was designed primarily for an American audience designed by the non-partisan libertarian organization Advocates for Self Government and published on a web page of that organization.[1] The quiz was created by Marshall Fritz, and associates the quiz-taker with one of five categories: libertarian, left-liberal, centrist, right-conservative, or statist.

I read recently (during a rather recent one week vacation) that some folks consider USMB to be both very poorly moderated AND a conservative board.

It does appear to be that way. But more importantly it seems to be a troll pit.

I consider this board a particularly safe haven for liberal nonsense.

A "safe space" if you will! Gentle snowflakes will melt under heat.

Sure, it’s not like the insane Democrap Underground or the daily kos (whateverthefuck that might mean)

Psst, it's a guy's name. You could have just googled it.

. Libs do get pushback here.

What you guys offer isn't so much "push back"....

Maybe that’s why they don’t like it

Well, it appears YOU don't like "Democraps" or "liberal nonsense". How are YOU better than the Democraps?

and consider it a “conservative” board. They prefer group-think style orthodoxy. Silly libs.

I dunno....you guys all seem to march in lockstep. Like one other poster noted the other day it only took a couple hours for one talking point to pop up on Brietbart before it was being toed here on the forum by the Right Wing Nutters.

I’m not going to use this forum to start a poll. Just wondering. Who actually believes that this Board is overly represented by conservatives? I see many. But I see oceans of liberals too.

A proper analysis of posts could probably be done to answer that but that would count as "math" and that's dangerously close to "education" for this board.

I see a Ocean of Trump voting base which isn’t true Conservatives and Progressives who are not truly Liberal and very few True Conservatives and Liberals on this board.

As for moderation just remember they are humans…
Would be interesting to know how you define such assorted positions.
