Zone1 about Patron Saints in general

Never any shortage of Catholic Martyrs, is there?

Did I ever tell you about the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in Sioux Falls? One day, an insane man broke into the chapel and tried to get his hands on the Blessed Sacrament, and the Sisters guarded the Eucharist with their own bodies, and I can only imagine what could have happened if the monster had been armed.

They are my heroes! They are a Benedictine order from Mexico, and I've never met a more gracious group of ladies!

Today, April 2, St. Francis of Paola, Patron Saint of Seafarers.

Today is also Holy Thursday, the day of the Last Supper. Also known as Maundy Thursday. In one of the traditions of the Church, the priest washes the feet of twelve parishioners, in imitation of Christ washing the feet of the twelve Apostles.

In German Holy Thursday is called Green Thursday.
Language specialists differ why that is so.

Therese von Konnersreuth did not eat and drink for 36 years.

She may be called a saint in the future.

I hope you can find a text in English about her.

Interesting. So many Saints did this, taking only the Holy Eucharist.

St. Pio ate very little, but remained a pretty robust figure of a man.

I read a bit about her but could not find mention of her diet.

Today is also the Feast of St. John Vianney, Curé d'Ars, Patron of Priests.

.

My mistake. St John Vianney's Feast Day is August 4.

I might not have been listening to the homily very attentively.

Apologies.
