Abbas Says Truce Must Precede Talks

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Wednesday he would not resume peace talks until Israel reaches a truce in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

The declaration complicated the latest mission by visiting Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who was trying to get the sides to resume talks.

I wonder if any of these Arabs realize that enough generations have passed that they could have completely peaceful and prosperous lives had they so chosen.

Instead they appear to want nothing more than to exist to kill. They live in hovels, vote a terrorist organization in as their government, and do nothing but live to hate.

He is right on one thing that a truce and/or cease-fire must exist in order for there any talks that lead to something! Also like it or not Hamas must be brought in on the talks. Yes they are a terrorist organization, but they hold the real power within Gaza and the WEST BANK. Unless Israel is going to go out and kill every single Hamas member (which would be impossible without killing 1,000 of people and 10s of 1,000s of civilians), then they need to start talking DIRECTLY to Hamas!
