You can't pretend to be moral when you cut school lunches for poor children or food stamps and other benefits for veterans. You can't pretend to be moral when you pass a farm bill giving millions in subsidies to GOP farmers in Congress. You can't pretend to be moral when you block health care for first responders.

In other words,

You can't be moral and be a Republican.

Democrats have a couple hundred more years of trying to make up for a past that's not so different than the way ISIS acts now. I would be careful about throwing around morals when The Democratic party supported Unions are as bad or worse than the corporations you Liberals love to hate.

I love pointing out that the Democratic Party was the Party of the Confederacy.

And that is of course why all of the folks so terribly upset about the Confederate flags being taken down are all Democrats.

Wait.....no the ones who are upset about the Confederate flags are......wait for it......the GOP.

Yes- in 1865- Democrats were the party of the Confederacy- the states that tried to secede to protect slavery.
And Republicans were the party of Lincoln.

But by 1965 it was the GOP who opposed Martin Luther King, and the Southern Democrats broke with the rest of the Democratic Party when the Democrats pushed the Civil Rights Act through Congress and Lyndon Johnson signed it into law.

When did the Marine Corps accept blacks again in desegregated units? Their history, as most of the military, is not a shining example of equality.

On July 26, 1948, President Harry S. Truman issued Executive Order 9981 establishing equality of treatment and opportunity in the U.S. military regardless of race. He appointed the President's Committee on Equality of Treatment and Opportunity in the Armed Services, two of whose five members were African American. In January 1949, the Fahy Committee (nicknamed after its chairman) met to hear concerns by armed forces' leaders about the new executive order, and both the Army and the Marine Corps leadership defended their practices of segregation. The Navy and the newly formed United States Air Force announced their intentions to follow the order. The USMC said that it had only one black officer among 8,200 white ones.

Because corporations have done so much for the middle class worker. And if we get rid of all unions, minimum wage will be the standard. The GOP cheers.
