While the use of the term "Ponzi Scheme" is wrong, the real problem is the surplus your father and uncles paid into the system was turned into government securities that basically put that surplus into the general fund of the government. Now the surplus is gone, the securities are coming due, and the general fund has to pay social security back, just another creditor getting their money back.

That surplus should have been invested. Instead it became basically "IOU"'s issued by the federal government to social security, and now they are all coming due.

Yeah, that might be their best approach, unless their only "plan" is to point at Trump. If that's all they can do, they don't really deserve to win.

I'd like to see them lay out a specific plan on expanding the current Medicare, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage system to all (with a few badly needed, but not impossible, tweaks). An excellent blend of public foundation and free market competition.

Hell, even some Republicans suggested it a while back: I'll be danged - Republicans may have it right on a health system!
