Isaiah context is about a people who gave up the ways taught by Moses, saying the ways of others were good. Isaiah is saying this "good" from others, not from God, God sees as filthy rags. He had taught them the ways that were good, and they had forsaken them for ways they saw as better.Isaiah 64:6, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
It's the story of Adam and Eve once again: God wants us to do this, but we want what we want. The reason God warns us of these ways humans see as better, is because in reality these "better" ways, God sees as filthy rags. An example today is abortion. Mankind let themselves be talked into by some to see abortion as "good", while I maintain God views it as a filthy rag.
