This would solve many problems, especially 'generational poverty'. The lack of mobility among the poor is a major cause of lack of opportunities. Many remain close to care for aging parents or falling into an underworld lifestyle resulting often in all remaining in poverty, or worse. Relocating is a given among college grads as sought after jobs are rarely close by. This mobility reflects the Biblical admonition to leave the nest and make a life for yourself.

I think there’s a Biblical admonition to honor one’s parents, though, and that would include making sure they are cared for in their old age. Doesn’t have to mean you PERSONALLY do it, but you have an obligation to see that their needs are met.

True. You can honor parents in several ways. One way is to become the honorable person that most parents wish for their children. In the case of 'inner city' parents all bets are off. Often getting as far away as possible is the best thing to do.
