A harsh lesson in the reality of COVID-19

You have to take this virus thing seriously, and quit calling it a hoax.

Simply burying your head in the sand and saying "hoax" is probably the worst way to handle this problem. But, I understand why so many people are saying it's a hoax, because Trump told them it was a hoax.

Take the virus seriously in all cases, except if you're protesting. Than you're immune.

I admit I voted for Donald Trump in 2016. I admit traveling deep into the conspiracy trap over COVID-19. All the defiant behavior of Trump’s more radical and rowdy cult followers, I participated in it. I was a hard-ass that stood up for my “God-given rights.”

In great haste, I began prognosticating the alphabet soup about this “scamdemic.” I believed the virus to be a hoax. I believed the mainstream media and the Democrats were using it to create panic, crash the economy and destroy Trump’s chances at re-election.

And so, believing the pandemic to be a hoax, my partner and I hosted family members on Saturday, June 13. On Sunday, June 14, I woke up sick.

By Monday, June 15, my partner and my parents were all sick. That same Monday, my in-laws traveled to witness the birth of their first grandchild. They took with them my father-in-law’s mother and one of my partner’s sisters. That night my father-in-law became ill. Then my mother-in-law and their daughter began feeling sick. So they cut their trip short.

Two days later, my father-in-law’s mother got sick. The new mommy and daddy got sick, too. We all tested positive for COVID-19. Only the newborn was spared.

My father-in-law and I both went to the hospital on June 24. The virus had attacked my central nervous system, and the staff stopped me from having a stroke.

My father-in-law’s mother was admitted a day later. On July 1, she died of COVID-19/pneumonia. The chaplain wanted the family to break the news to my father-in-law, and he learned how his mother lay on her deathbed and then drifted off without any family by her side, even though he was in the room next to hers.

On the day of her funeral, which was July 14, five more of our family members tested positive for the virus. That evening, my father-in-law was put on a ventilator.
No you didn’t and no you didn’t

His president took it seriously.
Oh, you’re just a motherfucking liar?
And, right on cue:

Of course, riots have nothing to do with a spike in cases, right?

CNN says so, therefore it must be true...

have no choice but to let it run its course
Pretty much what it is going to do despite our best efforts. A harsh reality and I have serious doubts about the hope of a vaccine. Protect the vulnerable as best we can, and the rest of us need to go about our lives and assess our own risks.
I will wear my mask in the damn store to make the paranoids feel better, but that son of a bitch comes off as soon as I exit.
Covid is very low on my list of daily risks to worry about, and my life is in far more danger from selfish assholes who turn the highways into freaking NASCAR every rush hour wearing a goddamn mask and talking on their phone.

Didn't you say "shit happens"? Well it does, and since you posted this tale of Covid horror there is a good chance none of this is true. But it would be great if it was.
You can click a link, retard. Use your google, too. Fucking ignorant trumpanzees.

What is the point of this thread? As it stands this virus has a 99% survival rate.

To trash Trump. What else? He stopped flights from countries with COVID. THE LEFT BITCHED. THEY CALLED HIM A RACIST. THEY CALLED HIM A XENOPHOBE. Now the lie and call it a hoax and they want to pay high drug prices!
That’s false. He didn’t stop flights from Europe, he didn’t test or quarantine a single person coming in, and he let 40,000 Chinese-Americans also skirt the travel ban, again with no quarantining first.

So you’re, typically, misinformed. Or just, typically, full of shit.

From a Trump conservative. This is definitely worth a read, virus-deniers and hoax enthusiasts:

A harsh lesson in the reality of COVID-19

For Tony Green, the coronavirus pandemic was just a ‘scamdemic’ — until truth hit home hard
Tony-Green.jpg
Imagine the sound and vibration of an old-fashioned electric heater going through your whole body. Imagine gasping for air with every step you take. Imagine rubbing Icy Hot all over your head to soothe a painful headache. Imagine your eyes in a bowl of water while you’re still seeing through them. Imagine collapsing and waking up in the ER only to find out COVID-19 attacked your central nervous system, and the doctor had just saved you from a stroke.

If that were the worst of it, it would be bad enough. But that’s not the worst of it. This is the story of one family’s harrowing fight with COVID-19.

My favorite aunt died of the virus in April.

I know how lethal and horrible it is.

I wish everyone would take it seriously.

His response was to have a party ????

OMG
No, his response was to follow his president’s lead and not take it seriously.

You can’t read - that’s it, right? You’re functionally illiterate? It would explain the wingnuttery - to an extent...

No the lazy person you replied to can read.

The person is just to damn lazy to read the truth. It doesn't conform to what that person wants to believe.

It's just sad.

A moron holds a party instead of practicing social distancing and somehow that is Trumps fault.

Wrong. He stopped people from China and a few other countries from coming here when it started, but let people from Europe keep coming here for a month or so after he banned China. And where was the hardest hit area in the US? That's right, NYC which is a major ingress point into the US from Europe. When he closed travelers from China, he should have also banned Europe, or at the very least, had everyone coming into the country from another place get checked.

When trump issued his so called china ban, which wasn't a ban, it was AFTER the virus was already here.

There were 11 exemptions in that so called ban which allowed over 40 thousand people to come here from china.

He called Americans home from all over the world. Allowing them to enter the nation without a covid test or anyone going into quarantine.

Of course it's going to spread like wildfire.

The east coast is the first stop for most flights from Europe. Which is why they got the covid from Europe.

The west coast is the first stop for most flights from china. Which is why they got the covid from china.

We have a total moron for a president.

Nice try.

But we have lots of other international airports that didn't have issues to begin with.

And we have lots of states that didn't have issues for a long long time.

Washington was one of the first states to flare up and they quickly got it under control.

New York, on the other hand, systemattically killed off a bunch of elderly.

And this is Trumps fault ?

Sorry, but the moron in this conversation is you.

The Trumpsters just keep ignoring the fact that many who survive are experiencing long term or permanent neurological damage, heart damage, organ damage, strokes in the 30's and 40's, damage to their senses and more.

Why do they keep ignoring this? Is this ignorance or politics?
