1. I'll settle for a lot less government spending and getting rid of some government agencies along with the bureaucrats working in them.

2. Bringing our manufacturing base back because the countries producing those items aren't honoring the terms of the trade agreements. (Slave & child labor)

US manufacturing grew faster in 2023 than any other major economy. We are second only to China in manufacturing output.

If by bringing back our manufacturing base means restoring the giant plants of the 20th century employing tens of thousands of workers, that is never going to happen. Ford’s River Rouge plant, once the largest manufacturing complex in the United States is good example. With over 100,000 workers ot produced 4,000 vehicles a day. Today, the modernized plant has 6,000 workers and has a total production of components and vehicles exceeding that of the old plant. This is America doing what it does best.

The worst answer was something along the lines of "If you don't see what America is today as opposed to what I knew growing up (60's), then you were not around.

I was around and America was falling apart then.

For the most part, we took care of ourselves. The United States needed some minerals and such from overseas. We had near everything to build and to live in this nation without worrying about any overseas interference. We exported products to them. And they were ravenous for it. We were a creditor nation. Comparing the living standards from then and today I prefer today with the comforts we have including a cleaner environment. However, most of those people back then knew where they came from and lived with comforts compared to what they had in previous generations or in the old country. They worked hard in that era.

We had what we needed back then without relying of other counters because we didn't need as much compared to today and the rest of the world didn't have as much to offer as today.

I agree with the poster that said "make America greater" would be a much better slogan.

That would not work for Trump because his political campaign is based on convincing voters that America is a "has been" "Make America greater" would be an admission that America today already is a great nation.

It is true that Trump’s policies are a threat to America’s greatness – along with its democratic institutions.

They certainly do but remember it is just a threat, not a certainty. The nation withstood the first Trump presidency and it would survive the second. However, the real danger lies in demigods that would follow in Trump's footsteps.

The truth is no knows what Trump will do, not even Trump. Unless Trump controls both houses of Congress, he will be limited to executive orders, and jawboning. I think we can count on a few things happening very soon after he takes office. The AG will close all federal investigation directed at the president. He will release those imprisoned in connection with the Jan 6th breakin. He will most probably stop the congressional parole which allows the president to admit those waiting on an immigration hearing to be admitted to the country temporarily which by summer will create the conditions at the border we had with Biden.

On the official stage, I'd say somewhat, but I think the crux has to do with the large rise in self-loathing American leftists who brand America as an evil, racist, occupying force. These people, who seem to actually despise America, have peddled their influence to the forefront of one of the two major parties in America. It's mainstream to think America is a majority of bad on your side of the aisle. This message is projected onto the populace by leftist mainstream media, social media algorithms, and via indoctrinating impressionable youth in schools and colleges across the nation. MAGA wants to break the bottleneck of influence the left has.

Protecting borders, encouraging success (not victimhood or demonizing it), positivity, appreciation for the nation and our history, rejecting the return of racism in the Democrat party (Identity politics).
