A Disturbing Look at the 2020 Presidential Campaign

At the risk of being repetitive, it certainly appears that the current President will be re-elected. The 'other' party (as if there were really two and as if there could not be more parties) has to present someone and it might as well be a candidate of modest qualifications. The trouble is that Mr. Trump is perfectly capable of finally committing a fatal error and so repulse so many people that they have no alternative but this 'other' party and its candidate. In other words, he could unelect himself and we would be saddled with someone just as unqualified and less popular.

Disturbing if you're a Democrat, that is.

I've noticed something: The 2020 Presidential election started out with a total of 29 hopefuls running on the Democrat platform - Biden, Sanders, Warren, Bloomberg, Gabbard, Klobuchar, Buttigieg, Steyer, Patrick, Bennet, Yang, Delaney, Booker, Williamson, Castro, Harris, Bullock, Sestak, Messam, O'Rourke, Ryan, de Blasio, Gillibrand, Moulton, Inslee, Hickenlooper, Gravel, Swallwell, and Ojeda.

I won't include the Libertarian and Green Party candidates like Hornberger, Jorgensen, Kokesh, Vermin Supreme, Whitney, Ruff, Hawkins, Hunter, and Rolde, because, seriously?

Meanwhile on the GOP side, one candidate for the most part, stands alone. That's President Donald J. Trump. There were four other candidates running on the Republican ticket but of those four, two are barely hanging on (Weld and De La Fuente), and the other two have since dropped out (Walsh and Sanford.)

That would mean that during this election cycle, 29 of the best Democrats in the country jumped into the fray, while only 5 Republicans entered the race. That's almost six times as many Democrats.

So now for the "disturbing" part: If President Trump is such a horrendous President, why has there not been a large number of Republicans challenging him?

If you remember back in 2016, the Republicans ran a total of 17 candidates, while the Democrats ran only 6. This says only one thing to me: The Republican Party seems to have coalesced in unity behind one candidate, Donald J.Trump. Aside from the small "Never-Trump" movement, the GOP is unified behind one purpose: The re-election of Donald J. Trump.

Meanwhile the Democrat Party has gone through a confusing mishmash of candidates, scrambling to come up with that one person whom they think can beat him.

How can anyone not see what's coming down the pipe?

Wow, what great points....this is the first time in history that an incumbent president has ran basically unopposed by his own party. Trump sets history again in your stupid worshiper mind.

Nobody has challenged Das Dotard because they're chickenshits who are afraid of a tweet or a primary.

But I'm kind of afraid that it may be YOU who doesn't see what's coming down the pipe. ;)

Rarely do sitting Presidents get a serious Primary Challenger
You know that right?

you give him far too much credit.

A presidential candidate running against a "popular" incumbent president is more like a virgin sacrifice to the political gods than a political contest.
The smart move is to consider 2020 as practice for 2024.

The betting odds are still about 2:1 in Trump's favor.
Donald Trump (R) -140 -163
Joe Biden (D) +175 +162
/——-/ Betting odds? Yeah, I always head over to Belmont Race Track and get political opinion from degenerate gamblers.

Yes, your lack of reasoning skills is disturbing.

Of COURSE Trump has no challengers. What are the Republicans going to say, "Well, we made a huge mistake with this guy, here are some alternatives.... Pretty please correct our fuckup, voters."

Obama had no challengers. Dubya had no challengers. Clinton had no challengers. Poppy Bush had a "challenger", but not really. The biggest mistake he made with Patzenfuhrer Buchanan was not loudly denouncing his racism and then crushing the little fuck. That opened the door to Perot and eventually Clinton.

The last time you would have to find a SERIOUS challenger to a sitting President was Ted Kennedy against Jimmy Carter. This was Jimmy Carter, a guy Democrats never liked to start with because he was too conservative going up against someone from a legendary family. And he still prevailed. At least until the general. (The hostage crisis helped, and then hurt.)

Point being that political hacks lie and bullshit. When you put your money up and place a bet, that cuts thru the bullshit.
Trump as an incumbent has an advantage in 2020, history, a record of accomplishment, and bragging rights that he took on the MSM, FBI, CIA, DOJ, Mueller's thugs, and the democrat slime machine, and kicked their respective asses. Trump is battle tested and ready for a 2nd term.

/—-/ And how many of your gambling sages, bet on the losing horse? How many worthless lottery tickets are scattered on the parking lot of 7-11? The only winners in Vegas are the casinos.

This is going to be a very close election(sign of a strong nation). It's going to be entertaining(alot of things to mock and make fun of), and trump trump will win in the end. But as far as funny entertaining quotes, names, sneers, this election will have no rival. Sit back, grab the popcorn, relax, and join in the fun.

It is nonetheless unsettling that the most powerful nation on earth has a circus to replace a genuine debate and election.

If President Trump is such a horrendous President, why has there not been a large number of Republicans challenging him?
Because what was the GOP is now the POT. It's become a cult of personality that does not require traditional standards of support for a prez like integrity, decency, knowledge, informed judgement, and policy positions that will make the country stronger for the long term. So........when around 90% of Repubs support the POS known as President Shithole and Faux Noise continues their fawning adoration of him it is quixotic to think the nomination can be wrested from Crooked Donald............................despite him being a boorish clown.

About 97% currently I think.

/——/ I blame Pop Culture that turned the political arena into American Idol or AGT.

This from the guy that worships a realty TV Star turned president
/—-/ I only worship God, but I do support President Trump. Why do you worship abortion doctors that murder defenseless babies? Why do you worship blood thirsty, cut throat dictators who slaughter their own people? Why do you worship jihadist who stone women to death because the stepped outside without an escort?

Silly boy, I am anti-abortion and always have been, do try and keep up.

If you can provide a few post form me speaking of Muslims and dictators with that same love you talk about Trump then maybe your weak attempt at projection would have worked

True enough. There are no "sure things". But betting "odds" make it interesting.
Hillary had a 95% probability of winning in 2016.
Joe Biden was finished a week ago, and then won super-Tuesday, who knew?
