The media in theory is awesome. A way to find out what the truth is. But in practice, it falls far short of the promise. It becomes a tool of propaganda.
It has been commented on time and time again. When Reagan and Bush were President, every holiday season the homeless were trampled by Reporters who rushed out to show these poor people living in cardboard boxes or under bridges. The first homeless person to die every year from the cold was a national news story. Then Clinton was elected, and the news stories about the homeless evaporated. Suddenly, it would appear that the homeless problem had been solved. Thank God. But it had’t changed. The problem still existed, but the media didn’t care anymore, they never did, they just wanted to use the homeless as a cudgel to bash Reagan and Bush.
The Homeless were back in the news, but not as much when W. was elected. And again vanished when Obama was in the Oval Office.
That’s the problem when the Media has an agenda. The media themselves decide what is “newsworthy”. If they don’t want to talk about it, then it isn’t newsworthy. No matter what is going on, it isn’t newsworthy.
In principle, the media would be awesome. In practice, their bias and agenda make their reporting not just questionable, but frankly little more than propaganda. So why should they be trusted? Why should we have faith in an institution that not only ignores any appearance of impropriety, but laughs when they are caught, and even lies.
We had no idea Matt Lauer was like that. Only they held a Roast, where everyone was talking about it, in public. We had no idea that this Congressman was acting badly. Of course not, the Congressman was the right party.
Think of it this way. If a Republican had to hire a Forensic Accountant to figure out how much back taxes he owed, then that Republican would be forced to resign. A Democrat? Not so much. Hey mistakes happen. He’s going to make it good, what is the problem?
