62% of 18-29 Year Olds Have a Favorable View of Socialism

a. "Hitler often stated that he learned much from reading Marx, and the whole of National Socialism is doctrinally based on Marxism." George Watson, Historian, Cambridge.
I have read Mein Kampf, a collection of Hitler's comments spoken in private to friends, Nazi officials, and foreign dignitaries that is entitled Hitler's Table Talk 1941 - 1944, His Private Conversations, and finally My New Order. This is an anthology of Hitler's speeches.

In none of those books did Hitler ever acknowledge reading anything by Karl Marx.

Thank you for asking a good question. A democratic socialist respects the judgment of the electorate. He realizes that socialism is unpopular with much of the electorate. He presents his arguments. If they are rejected, he accepts that. A democratic socialist will not use violence to achieve his goals.

A socialist can be any number of things of the left. He can be a Marxist Leninist fanatic.

I call myself a social democrat because I recognize that capitalism has its place. I like efforts by the government to reduce economic inequality, without eliminating it.
What did the framers mean by “promote the general welfare”?

They could not have meant universal free public education, Social Security, and Medicare because those did not exist back then.

Look up the definition of ‘promote’, then look up ‘general’ then ‘welfare’….put the puzzle together and report back please.

Because I want it to happen. So do most Americans, especially young Americans. .
What if your name wasn’t “Hector”…What if it was “Thomas O’Brady”….Be honest, do you think you’d still beg for free shit?

Let's check, and see if you are too cowardly to answer a simple question.

For many years we on the Right have claimed that you subscribe to a party based on a foreign ideology. Now it is clear and out in the open.

Well, naw, that's stupid. I don't support Mamdani. (I also don't live in NYC, so I don't have a dog in this fight.)

I'm pointing out that Capitalism (which is also a foreign idealogy) is a shit sandwich for most Americans, which is why people are tiring of it.

Again, I was more right wing than you were until 2008.

Then I had a Romney-loving boss who decided to totally screw me over professionally. I was left with a busted 401K, an underwater mortgage and a 25% pay cut.

His exact words, 'good thing I don't have to deal with a union!"
Why did you completely reverse your political beliefs based on one asshole boss? That makes absolutely zero sense.

Because I realized that boss could be an asshole because of the political philosphy I supported.

Now, imagine if you would if Ted Kennedy had become president instead of Ronnie Ray-Gun in 1980. We'd have had stronger workers' rights, we'd have had stronger unions, and this asshole wouldn't have dared to screw over my career.

I would call it a moment of clarity.

Just like i stopped being Catholic after 1983, when a dipshit nun told me God had a reason for my mom to die.

So you think government is unrestrained by that pesky Constitutuion?
I think the purpose of the Constitution is to explain how to operate a democratic government. The electorate is sovereign.

If Ted Kennedy had been elected, or if Jimmy Carter had been reelected, we would not have this monstrous notational debt that the Republicans are using to cut or eliminate popular domestic spending programs.

Alrighty then. It takes a lot more than some isolated event to shake my core beliefs, but everyone is different.

JoeB was never really a Republican and I question how he could have ever been a Christian. Nobody goes from supporting the right to supporting the Democratic Socialist party over one incident with their boss. A genuine Christian would not reject God by calling Him a “sky fairy,” mock Jesus, or ridicule those who love Him simply in response to a nun saying that God had a purpose behind their loved one’s death.

except it wasn't an isolated event, it was taking stock of the whole.

New data point, you re-evaluate your position.

I would love to be able to say, "I turned on Bush when he lied us into Iraq and killed a million people" or "I turned on Bush because he jugfucked the response to Katrina". I can't. I actually defended that shit. Then Bush's gross ******* incompetence effected me personally.

At the end of 2008, I had an underwater mortgage, a busted 401 (k), and a pay cut.

and you seriously think I should have kept voting for more of that?

Another 2008 event that made me sure I was done with the GOP. They had a big confab after Obama won. They had Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, and Bobby Jindal, who were all convinced the reason Republicans lost was that they weren't religious crazy enough. You know, not because they wrecked the economy, got us into an unnecessary war, and completely failed the people of NOLA after Katrina.

Yes, people never ever change their minds because Cleetus never done changed his mind.

Nobody goes from supporting the right to supporting the Democratic Socialist party over one incident with their boss.

He does when that boss screws over his entire career after six years of loyal service. Obviously, it was more than just that. Bush was ******* incompetent and totally ratfucked the country. Continuing to support the GOP under those circumstances would have been silly.

Of course, Bush is a Rhodes Scholar compared to Trump.

A genuine Christian would not reject God by calling Him a “sky fairy,” mock Jesus, or ridicule those who love Him simply in response to a nun saying that God had a purpose behind their loved one’s death.

I should point out I already had an animus towards this nun as she taught me in grammar school. (The same grammar school my mother taught at.) She was a truly nasty piece of work. Now I feel some sympathy for her. She was obviously a frustrated lesbian who hated what she couldn't have - children.

The best part of the gay rights movement is that Young Catholic Lesbians (which actually sounds like a good title for a porn film) are no longer getting sucked into this miserable lifestyle.

now, obviously, other factors were involved here. Once outside that horrible Catholic Bubble, I was exposed to other history and philosophy, that made me question most of what I had been taught. And I've always had one of these mentalities of questioning holes in the plot.
