one more thing RDD. buying health insurance should be a personal choice, not a government mandate with financial penalties for non compliance.
Here's the problem with that.... And I hate dimocraps more than you can possibly imagine.
When the individual who refused to buy Health Insurance gets sick or injured, what do we do?
Let him/her die?
Not gonna happen. That's not the kind of society we are.
So we're gonna pay to fix/him her up and cost-shift the unpaid balance of Doctor and Hospital Bills onto people who DO buy Health Insurance.
Believe me, I'm telling you the truth.... Otherwise intelligent, hard-working, tax paying, family raising, bill paying people just won't buy Insurance unless they have to (a lot of the time, not always, but way too often)
Insurance is just simply beyond the understanding of the common individual. I'm not talking about trailer-trash Terry and their five half-naked kids running around the park, I'm talking decent people.
They just won't do it.
I spent 25 years trying to understand why people think the way they do on that subject. Still don't know.
Well... Yeah. I do. I just don't want to talk about it. (hint: Use the word 'stupid' a lot and you'll have the answer)
I had a woman come into my Office one time, started bitching about what a ripoff her Cancer Policy was.
I asked her why she felt that way and she said, "I've had this Cancer Policy for twenty years and never got to use it."
I asked her to leave.
People are weird.
We NEED mandatory participation in Health Insurance.
What we DON'T need is socialism. And because Republicans dropped the ball on this year after year, decade after decade......
That's what we're gonna get
