the first amendment is much subtler than you give it credit for being. It is not a blanket freedom -- case law is rampant in which exceptions are outlined. In US law, there are numerous prior restraints (suppressing speech) which are legal.

If you look at the YouTube comments or Reddit at least online people are open about whatever bigotry it is against w/e group it is. On various Internet forms I’ve seen people make openly bigoted comments against X group. Occasionally it happens in person as well.

Nobody can prove somebody is a “racist” simply because they say so or they guess so. This goes for American politics like if somebody criticizes a foreign government or a political group and then they get called racist for it. Well There’s no proof of the racism.

Calling someone racist can be similar to attempting to shut down free speech. The idea of to get enough people to come into a conversation and call an individual racist to drown them out. There is no attempt at a conversation other than “you’re a racist” … the other point is more important which is for people who actually call for censorship of people who criticize a foreign government or political group that they don’t like.

“Your racist for criticizing this foreign government or political group so you should be censored. Your words should be controlled or you should be fired from your job.”…. This is clearly anti-American and it is against the first amendment, and it must be opposed.

I made the thread here because I hope for a discussion without foul language or personal attacks. I cannot control what another poster says. If another poster lies about somebody being a racist or a Muslim or a Jew or whatever I cannot control that. Nobody can.



I make these threads from a sincere point of view because I take interest into this discussion.

I don’t know what I can do to stop an individual or individuals from attempting to wreck a thread. What I have noted from experiences if somebody calls another poster a “racist, Jew or Muslim” for criticizing a foreign government there is nothing the accused can do to convince the accuser that there is no racism. I also have reported only a handful of posts during my time here on this message board. So I don’t really frankly believe in reporting posts if that’s what you’re saying I should do. I follow the rules of the message board and I cannot control individuals who falsely accuse others of bigotry. I suppose all of us can only hope for a civilized productive discussion.

Yes, "Calling someone racist can be similar to attempting to shut down free speech." but that does not mean outing racists is all about shutting them down. I've long advocated letting NeoNAzis and Racists speak. I believe Sunlight will cleanse most of their shit.

I'm White and I know Dog Whistle when I hear one. Some (usually racists or people who are defensive about their views on race) claim "Dog Whistles" don't exist. Yet, many a political operative have in later years of their lives admitted to using them.
