Precluding someone who cannot pledge loyalty and fealty to the constitution from holding political office doesn't stop them from practicing their religion. They can practice their religion, not freely, there are still limits, but mostly without government interference. They just can't run for elected office.

Elected officials are required to take an oath of office pledging support for the constitution as the Supremelaw of the land.. Muslims cannot honestly do that. The quoran is their highest law. Since they cannot honestly take the oath, they cannot serve.

For example, Muslims have an obligation to Allah to kill Jews. A basic religious belief is to behead infidels who refuse Mohammed. An uncovered woman cannot be raped as a matter of law.
