2025 US Open Championship - USGA

Do you remember what Oakmont used to look like? Do you like the new look? Just curious.
Can't say that I do remember. I'm guessing there were trees that are gone now. It's not the most pleasing look for me. Can't say that I saw a single water hazard today. I probably didn't see action on every hole though.

I’ll go with Brooks Koepka - nice to see him playing well, again. If he wins, it will be major #6. He’s quietly making a legendary name of himself.

If he stumbles, though, it’s anyone’s guess.

So we were posting about this last night and an article showed up in a couple of newsfeeds that had before and after pictures...yep...lot of trees gone. Guess they're trying to somewhat emulate British Open courses.

4 bogeys and 3 birdies so far today.

Looking at the scores so far, anyone that shoots par today is gonna gain on the rest of the field.

He's already a HOF player. I wonder if he regrets going to the LIV tour. Mickelson was motivated by massive gambling losses and was at the end of his career. It surprised me when Koepka left.

Yep, for Mickelson LIV was superior to PGA Champions Tour.

I think they ruined it. I posted that it looks like a green airport and I'll stick with that.

He shot 4 over today and is +2 after 2 rounds.

Looking like a new winner may be crowned come Sunday, if things keep going the way they have.

I have only heard of about half of the current players in the top ten.

Should be an exciting weekend either way.

A bit disappointing finish today for Koepka, but he’s still in it.

The course is not "difficult," it is absurd. You have the best players in the world basically clueless about how to read the greens. You have good shots that roll off the green. You have rough that makes some shots impossible.

What you have is a local country club taking pride in having a ridiculous golf course that humbles the best players on the planet. It introduces an unacceptable level of luck into the equation.

Frankly, it's not fun to watch, and I'm someone who can watch golf for hours at a time.

Now it's raining, so the rough will be even worse. On top of that, they ruined Oakmont, took out 15,000 trees and turned it into a faux links course that looks like crap.

One of the commentators on the live stream I watched today said "Imagine being an Oakmont member and playing the course every week." Yeah ... imagine.

Playing in the rain today makes it seem more like The Open Championship on that course.
