19.5% of America is on Welfare?

Well then let's support all the workers in America who are trying to unionize. Enough of the CEO's and VP's getting all the raises. Give the workers raises. Make the middle class so big fat and successful you don't deserve welfare.

Make it so Walmart workers can raise a family on their income.

Did you know that Walmart workers get a lot of welfare money? Isn't that sad? The working poor. I don't vote for that. I don't like it that CEO pay has gone up 1000x in the past 2 decades while our pay has stalled. Time to unionize.

Unions were what made the middle class possible here in America. Unions also made it possible to have one job, a house, a car, and enough for a few extras for the family.

Since around the 80's, the Republicans have made "unions" a dirty word in business. But, unions are actually what made this country great.

But, with the greed at the top, it's kinda doubtful that they will ever make a comeback and become strong again.

"Convoluted" means something that has undergone "Convolution".

It's slang definition is "extremely complex and difficult to follow."

I knew that you did not mean the mathematical definition of "Convoluted", idiot, but I've kept you going for 2 days before you've been able to figure that out. It's fun to jerk around a moron like you.

Besides you proved that you're too ignorant to know the difference between vocabulary and grammar. That was just an extra laugh for me.

Either way there was nothing "extremely complex and difficult to follow." in my original statement - nothing "convoluted" about it - except to a total moron.
an extra laugh is your grammar, which includes spelling, which you call vocabulary

your grammar/vocabulary still sucks, not using commas, periods, and capital letters where you need them

Before becoming the grammar police, check your grammar and vocabulary, You proved yourself the idiot attacking spelling while your own grammar, sucks!

will you ever get back to the topic of the OP? doubtful

If we can do that why cant we just force the government to make things so cheap we can afford a home on minimum wage

If things don't get better organically, they will make a comeback. My brother said all you need is the fear of unionization. That's what keeps wages up. If you have to unionize it's because the company refused to be fair and pushed workers too far.

UPS may not unionize, but just the threat of it should make things better for UPS workers. More workers need to do this. We don't need to raise minimum wage. McD and Taco Bell and Walmart need to be pay better than minimum wage. But they only pay as much as they can get away with. And they hire illegals. The Americans they do hire make so little they qualify for foodstamps. Unacceptable.

CEO's value themselves too much. Not just them but the VP's under them. And the BOD's

Corporate boards running America’s largest public firms are giving top executives outsize compensation packages that have grown much faster than the stock market and the pay of typical workers, college graduates, and even the top 0.1%.

From 1978 to 2021, CEO pay based on realized compensation grew by 1,460%, far outstripping S&P stock market growth (1,063%) and top 0.1% earnings growth (which was 385% between 1978 and 2020, according to the latest data available). In contrast, compensation of the typical worker grew by just 18.1% from 1978 to 2021.

That's probably not a good idea. But government is the referee. They pass tax legislation that either works for all of us or just the rich.

Based on this fact I don't think CEO's are paying their fair share in taxes nor are they paying us our fair share. Our pay should go up when their pay goes up. When it doesn't, that's when America stops being "great" for the middle class. It makes it greater for guys like Trump not you.

One thing we wanted to do was give poor people a public option for poor people. Or allow young people to buy in to Medicare. They are young and won't use it but they'll have insurance in case something horrible happens to them.

That would bring prices down. Then the private insurers would have to compete with the public option. Like UPS and Fed ex compete with the Post Office. If the Post Office goes away, prices will skyrocket.

Wait! A MAGA idiot that suddenly believes in science!

Not when it comes to global warming or vaccines, just when they support your point of view on a issue I'm sure!

I'd rather live with 22 million hard working, honest, morally descent illegal immigrants, then 74 million nasty, spoiled brat Trump voters!

"Science"...lol. Yes, please tell us again how vaccinated people don't get covid, like you, your president, and his "experts" told us.

Nobody ever said that getting the vaccine meant that you wouldn't get Covid. But it does mean that if you get it, it will be less severe.

BTW - I doubt any of the people in your image actually said those things. You've been dup'd again!

Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary are all different things.

Well to have a discussion on welfare it is important to understand why some are on welfare. What cause people to need welfare? The idea that we live in one of the top economies in the word and everyone should prosper is just a dream.

It is not like the want to live in poverty on purpose.

There are many factors from criminal records, deadbeat dad, illness, birth defects, etc

There are circumstances that create conditions that make it hard to escape poverty.

I am not saying it is impossible but the odds are not in your favor.

poverty rates by country. Canada, USSR and China to name a few have lower poverty rates that the US. The US rate is not bad. The ones who have better rates

Two are communist countries and one is a democracy but has a strong socialist inclination to provide support to its citizen with health care, unemployment benefits, etc.
There is a link to Economic mobility....

It is harder in US to succeed than in other first world countries...

Social mobility can be understood as the movement in personal circumstances either “upwards” or “downwards” of an individual in relation to those of their parents. In absolute terms, it is the ability of a child to experience a better life than their parents. On the other hand, relative social mobility is an assessment of the impact of socio-economic background on an individual’s outcomes in life.

Look at the ones at the top of the list... They are the Nordic Countries.. Yes those ones with large social nets...

This just says that it is harder to become rich in countries in US compared to Sweden... Main reason is education, healthcare... These countries invest in their people...

Yet, if you combine the population of all that have succeeded in all the Nordic countries put together, less people have succeeded than in the USA.

Now if we define success as finding a new home in a new country after fleeing murder and corruption. The USA beats all other countries combined. No countries offer more people social mobility than the USA.

The USA, shipping all our manufacturing overseas, allows us to take credit for all the social mobility in China and many many many other countries.

The USA rules the world, although there is half the population that does not like that and literally works to make us fail.

There may be other factors that have to be taken into considerations when comparing the Scandinavian countries with the US. Population wise the US dwarfs all 3 by a wide margin.

total GDP in the US is ranked at about 15% of the word total

IF you add Sweden, Denmark , and Norway. there total together is only 1.5%

Population wise they are ranked at about the 100 plus position as compared to the US which is ranked 3rd.

If you go with per capital GDP only Norway beats the US at 8th position and the US is at 9th position. The other two countries are at higher positions.

The main reason in my opinion is population numbers. This will affect the numbers who are rich, living good, borderline, or in poverty.

The US at 9th position when per capital by population is used is not bad when only Norway beat it by 1% and the other two are at higher positions. . There are two many variables for a definitive answer.,

Yet the more opportunity is probably the first step. Poverty rates is equal to one Scandinavian country and the other two countries have slightly better rate.

More people means more wealth and more opportunities. It also means more poverty when compared to just the Scandinavian countries.

Still I would say there is more opportunity in the US.

The Top 25 Economies in the World

What the fuck is wrong with 20% of families living with someone who gets government benefits?

I haven’t read the report and maybe I’m mis-interpreting it, but this presumably includes “SSI” — Social Security Insurance benefits, right?. If this is included, I would have expected the total percent to be much more than 19.5%!

I sure hope nobody here thinks I am … a “welfare bum” … just because I collect Social Security retirement benefits!
SSI provides monthly payments to people with disabilities and older adults who have little or no income or resources.

True Social Security isn't welfare........it's been paid into by hard working Americans.

SSI is a form of welfare that is given to those who have NOT worked the required number of hours/years to qualify for SS.
SSI provides monthly payments to people with disabilities and older adults who have little or no income or resources.

Republicans, I will agree with you that this is unacceptable.

Overall: In 2019, 19.5 percent of the total population received or lived with a family member who received a benefit in any amount from TANF, SNAP, or SSI at any point during the year.

Glad to read this

With some exceptions, non-citizens entering the United States after August 22, 1996, the date of enactment of the welfare reform legislation, are not eligible for most welfare benefits, including Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), SSI, Medicaid, and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), ...
The result of Bidenomics.

Unionization will make a comeback as history is cyclical. Want people to bust their butts then it's time to pay up.
