Economic sanctions are an executive branch diplomatic weapon. If Ted Cruz does not know this he's an even bigger idiot than he acts like. The executive branch is given unilateral authority to conduct foreign policy. If there are to be sanctions Biden will impose them.

That's because you try to let diplomacy work first, when and if that fails, then it's time for sanctions and / or other punitive measures. Putin is obviously a sociopath and punitive measures might just make matters worse. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail.

The Ukraine never invaded Russia, Russia has laid claim to two areas of the Ukraine because of the Soviet era policies that were set in place when they took over the Ukraine years ago.
